Mom to Baby and Sprout

March 9, 2017 and August 31, 2017

I am 1 in 4 women…I am her….twice

This is my story, in an effort to begin the healing process.

When I was 17 years old, I fell in love and have never stopped. We bought our first home and were married by the time I turned 24 years old. Not even two years later in 2009, we had our first beautiful daughter, and our lives were changed forever for the better.  We were blessed again in 2012 with our second daughter and life honestly felt like a dream.  Like any family, we’ve had our share of ups and downs, personal angst and heartache, but we’ve always shared it together and risen above. Mom to Amari

February 14, 2016

Hartford, Connecticut

2015 was an amazing year. I was just into my 2nd month of a new IT consulting career, something I had been thinking about for years and my husband (fiancé at the time), was deep into his new job that ended our long distance relationship AND it was a coaching job at our alma mater (we both met there and we also did track and field so it was an extra special job). And the best part of it all, we were to be married that summer! July 10th, 2015 was a beautiful sunny summer day and we exchanged vows in front of our nearest and dearest. Then it was off to party party party on our Cancun honeymoon before the best was to begin! [Read more…]

Mom to Brielle Grace

October 2, 2015

Hartford, Connecticut

My husband and I were so excited, when I say excited, I mean literally over the moon! We are high school sweet hearts, we had traveled & had adventures, but something was definitely missing! That’s why when we found out I was pregnant on May 18th of 2015, we couldn’t have been happier. We had just started to see a fertility specialist because of a uterine abnormality (unicornuate uterus) and were surprised/thrilled/ecstatic really to be finally pregnant! We thought the hard part was over.

Mom to a baby lost January 20, 2012
(EDD September 7, 2012)

My husband and I had been trying for six months to get pregnant. I couldn’t believe it when I (finally) got a positive pregnancy test! I took eight tests to make sure. We were so excited! We’d been together nine years, married for one year, and were ready to start our family. We kept the news to ourselves for two weeks told our immediate family about the pregnancy at six weeks. We wanted to wait until the start of the second trimester to tell everyone else. [Read more…]

Mom to Angel A & Angel B
Born Pre-Term on April 22, 2010
Wilton, Connecticut

My husband and I got married on August 30, 2008. We wanted to start trying to conceive right away. Eight months after we got married, I started thinking something was wrong. We had actively tried to conceive every cycle, and for some reason, it just wasn’t happening for us. In June 2009, I went to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. After a myriad of tests, we were diagnosed under “Unexplained Infertility”. We endured three failed IUIs, until finally, in December 2009, we were successful with our first IVF.

I found out that I was pregnant only four days before Christmas Eve. I can’t even explain in words how happy I was to finally see a positive pregnancy test. As soon as I found out, I hurried to a bookstore and bought my husband a book called “The Expectant Father,” wrapped it, and gave it to him as an early Christmas present. I’ll never forget the look on his face when he opened the present. It was utter, complete happiness. We hugged each other and started dreaming of our upcoming new life together. It seemed our dream was finally going to come true. Our babies’ due date was August 31st, which is two days after my birthday, and one day after our Wedding Anniversary. What a birthday/wedding anniversary it was going to be! We shared the news with our family on Christmas Eve. We gave my parents a frame with a picture of the baby embryos inside. Next to the picture, it said, “Baby Fords will Arrive on/around August 30, 2010”! It was the best Christmas ever!

Mom to Amelia Rose
Died on March 10th, 2010, born on March 11th, 2010
Lost to Mosaicism, a rare form of Turner’s Syndrome
Strattford, CT
After a rough transition from the south to New England, we found out about baby number four in June 2009. We were  thrilled to welcome a new life into our family. With much anticipation and delight, I endured the rough first trimester and finally felt that I was in the fun part of pregnancy. We had found a midwife and began planning a home birth.

During my 24th week, our midwife explained that I was measuring larger then I should and she asked us to get an ultrasound to rule out twins. I was so excited about the possibility of twins, but also very aware that other problems could be the result of measuring larger. So, we waited for our ultrasound appointment.
