Mom to Lilly

Phoenix, Arizona

It has taken me 2 years to write this and share it with the world [at time of submission].

We had been trying for our second child for about 6 months and were starting to get frustrated. In December, we decided to take a break and since we were going away for Christmas, it would be a good time to de-stress. We came home on December 26th. I felt kind of off the whole trip so since I was late, I took a test expecting another disappointing result. To our utter shock, we saw the single most beautiful word you could see on a test result, “Pregnant.” To say we were thrilled would be an extreme understatement.

Miscarried February 24, 2012
at 15 weeks 3 days

Mount Sterling, Kentucky

My son was 16 months old when my husband and I found out we were expecting our second child. We were nervous for a bunch of different reasons. We didn’t know how we could afford two children and I felt kind of bad for bringing another child into the world when my son didn’t even know what was going on. I felt like I wasn’t going to have as much time to spend with him. But as the news grew on us we became more and more excited! I couldn’t help but look at baby clothes every time we would go to the store. I was really hoping for a little girl since I already had my son, but as long as it was healthy was all I cared about. Brinlee, D&C January 15, 2010
Matthew, miscarried at home July 25, 2010
Paislee, miscarried at home May 10, 2011

Nunnelly, Tennessee

My first miscarriage was after my first child was born. I didn’t even realize I was pregnant. It took six long weeks of heavy bleeding to get over it. I got pregnant again the very next month. It was a healthy, full term baby boy. That pregnancy was followed by two more healthy, full term pregnancies, a girl and a boy. [Read more…]

When I found out I was pregnant with our second child, I was scared and excited. I was excited we were expanding our family of three, to a family of four. It’s an exciting time in a womans life to be pregnant and to know that you are the home of a little life inside of you. You’re responsible for that little person’s life. [Read more…]

James and I have 2 beautiful children: Brycen and Haiden and we thought we were done……God had other plans for us and our family.  In Jan. 2011 I learned that I was expecting.  It was very difficult for me to grasp….I didn’t know how we were going to do it.  But when we went for our first appointment I was so excited to see a little baby.  He was about the size of a gummy bear but we could see his little heart beating on the screen, we were 8 weeks along.  Fast forward a month we went in for a normal appointment (11 weeks) and we heard a STRONG heartbeat.  James even recorded it on his cell and texted it to our family.   [Read more…]

I can remember each moment like it was yesterday – each one of the five times that we were told our pregnancy was over.

In September 2007 we began our journey to expand our family.  We got pregnant right away and I was ecstatic.  We told everyone we knew.  There was nothing that compared to our excitement.  But that first pregnancy ended at 6 short weeks.  What began as spotting continued through to the full miscarriage process and my heart was completely broken.  After having a completely normal pregnancy in 2007, I gave birth to a beautiful healthy 7lb. 11oz baby boy that my husband and I named, Landon. He was the light of our lives. My husband Josh and I had gotten married in 2002 while we were still in high school. We loved our married life but had originally planned on waiting a while til we had children. All of that changed when we found out we were pregnant a few months before our 4th wedding anniversary.

Angel #1 Stillborn at 20 weeks on November 18th, 2009

Angel #2 Late miscarriage at 14 weeks on October 14th, 2010

Angel#3 Late Miscarriage at 15 weeks on March, 25 2011

Draper, Utah

November 15, 2009…That was the last day of my life that I could truly say I’ve been given an easy hand at life with only minor mishaps and nothing really bad has ever happened to me.

My husband and I met for the official ultrasound the morning of November 16th, so excited to know the gender of our baby. Wondering if our streak of same gender luck was going to change. Honestly, I didn’t really care all that much. The ultrasound tech started looking at the baby and said, “I’d like to see some movement here,” and she shook her ultrasound wand, shaking my tummy. Very quickly she moved to the heart. I just stared at the screen with a blank look on my face. I knew exactly what I was seeing…the absence of a heartbeat. I was too numb to even cry, but in retrospect, I was at least grateful the ultrasound tech was upfront with us and told us straight out the baby was no longer alive. My husband and I were truly in shock and were advised to check into Labor and Delivery that evening to get labor underway. [Read more…]

Mom to Nathan Jeremy Potter
July 1st, 2010
Thetford Center, Vermont
My husband and I were high school sweethearts.  We started dating when I was 14 and he was 16 and have had an amazing 22 years together (16 years married).  I am currently 36 years old.  A couple of years ago I started to realize that I might like a family.  We talked about it A LOT!  Once we made our decision to start trying, it took us a little more than a year to conceive.  In March of 2009, my husbands mother passed away.  Our lives were consumed by grief and a nightmare of an estate, but the day after the 1 year anniversary of her death we conceived.  We looked at it as a gift from her, as if to say “You’ve had enough, it’s time to focus on something happy”.

Mom to Baby Maes #1 – missed miscarriage July 16, 2009 at 15 weeks
Baby girl Maes– missed miscarriage March 11, 2010 at 10 weeks
and Baby Maes #2- Chemical pregnancy August 16,2010 at 4 weeks
Stockton, CA

In spring of 2009 after 7 months of TTC my husband and I were finally blessed with a baby. We were elated to be expecting our first baby. We knew pregnancy would be complicated due to my preexisting diabetes. My OB was on top of it and worked hard getting my insurance to approve a state funded program for pregnant diabetics to control my blood sugars as well as diet.

The pregnancy progressed fine. At 6 weeks we saw our baby heartbeat flickering away. At 9 weeks we saw our baby bouncing all over as we had an ultrasound. The baby was measuring a little small, but my OB said there were no worries. I got into the Sweet Success program and was immediately started on insulin injections and met with the nutritionist to set up my diet plan. In the meantime I was awaiting approval from my insurance to see the perinatologist. I started my insulin and over the next couple of weeks my sugars were under control.

On July 14, 2009 at 15 weeks I went to the perinatologist and have a level 2 ultrasound. I was excited that maybe we would see the sex of the baby. My husband couldn’t get off of work but he told me to find out the sex if they were able and bring home pictures for him. As they put the probe on my belly I knew instantly something wasn’t right.
