Mother of Lucian Xavier

Born April 15, 2011

Died April 22, 2011

Chattanooga, TN

I went to my OB on Friday April 15, 2011 because I had been having contractions all night and I was planning on having a c-section on the following Monday.  My due date was April 27th but since I had to have another c-section, we planned it earlier.  My doctor checked me and said “well, congratulations! We will be having a baby today, you are 2 centimeters dilated!”  My entire pregnancy was great, not a whole lot of morning sickness, didn’t gain very much weight, all around healthy baby as far as they could tell, we were excited.   [Read more…]

Mansfield, OH

For all of my life, as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a mom. God blessed me with Isaac and let me become one on this earth and I will forever thank Him for that. However, another thing that some may even think I’m weird for, that I wanted to experience was being pregnant long enough to feel my baby move, to see their beautiful baby outline on the ultrasound machine and hear their precious heart beating. Jessica Espinoza

Mother to Faith De La Torre

May 30, 2010

My name is Jessica Espinoza I have three kids, Ariana (7), Jacob (4), and Faith my little angel. I got pregnant with Faith September of 2009. I was just so excited for her to be here with us. I would go to all my appointments and do all the tests. I got all of her stuff ready and washed all of her clothes. I was just counting down the days until she was here in my arms. Then on May 24, I went to the doctor and heard her heartbeat and got measured and the doc told me that I was going to get induced on May 2nd. [Read more…]

I can remember each moment like it was yesterday – each one of the five times that we were told our pregnancy was over.

In September 2007 we began our journey to expand our family.  We got pregnant right away and I was ecstatic.  We told everyone we knew.  There was nothing that compared to our excitement.  But that first pregnancy ended at 6 short weeks.  What began as spotting continued through to the full miscarriage process and my heart was completely broken. Mommy to Ava Joy

March 8th, 2011 -March 9th, 2011

On July 9th, 2010 I woke up much earlier than usual and for some reason decided while still half asleep that I would take a pregnancy test, it was still a day or two early to be testing but something in me said it couldn’t hurt. When I saw the two lines on that test I instantly screamed. After a year and a half of infertility treatment that included provera, clomid and follistim as well as countless blood work & ultrasounds we were finally pregnant. We soon found out that my HCG levels were not up to par and an early ultrasound showed a blighted ovum. [Read more…]

I always knew I wanted children, but I didn’t seriously think about it until I got married to my high school sweetheart in June 2006, at age 20. Then suddenly it was like a lightbulb went on and I knew that I just wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I knew it was best for me to finish college first, but it was a big struggle for me to have to wait awhile to try to have a baby. By early 2007 we had stopped using any contraception, and in June 2007 I found out that I was pregnant. [Read more…]

All my life I was sure of one thing and that was someday I was going to be a mom.  I was never sure of what I wanted to “do” for a living but I KNEW I had to have kids.  I wanted a lot of kids.  When I was 18 I was diagnosed with PID and told that this would decrease my chances of being able to have a baby by 25% I cried and was sad but moved past that quickly as at 18 I wasn’t planning on kids anytime soon. It took us a while to get pregnant.  I remember going through those days of infertility and how I couldn’t believe it was happening to me – to us.  Then, after 4 years of trying, countless procedures, and ready to throw out the dream of carrying a child, we found out it worked – we were pregnant!  What followed less than 2 weeks later was finding out we were having twins!  What a miracle!!  After years of trying, finally we had been blessed with not one but two babies! My husband and I found out we were expecting our first child in September of 2010. I started a blog as letters to my baby so that one day she could read her birth story from day one. I never thought the letters would end up chronicling the life and death of my first born. Some girls dream of their wedding day but all I ever dreamed of was becoming a mother. [Read more…]

and Ethan

Born at 32 weeks on May 10th and Died May 12th due to a heart defect

I am the mother of 3 angels and my last angel died 2 weeks ago.  My story starts 9 years ago when I had my first son Ryan.  When we found out I was pregnant, I was 3 months along and told our family at a restaurant where we had lunch, everyone was ecstatic to hear our news.  I can recall that it was a good pregnancy, no problems and all was going well until 18th April (Good Friday) evening at 11:50pm when I suddenly felt the urge to go to the toilet, which I did and to my horror, saw a thick mucus discharge with blood,  my husband took  me to the Medi-clinic emergency room immediately, where they admitted me as they suspected I was in labour, they put me on the monitor and had a look at my cervix which was not fully dilated yet.  All was going okay during the night and when the OB/GYN came early Saturday morning, she discovered that I was 7 cm dilated and immediately put me on meds to prevent the cervix from dilating further.

I always thought that baby loss was something that happened to other people.  No one in my family had suffered any type of pregnancy loss, so why would I have anything to worry about?

When our son was about a year old, my husband and I decided to try for another baby.  We conceived our firstborn easily and our second pregnancy wasn’t much different.  I got pregnant within 4 months of trying.  I went in for a dating ultrasound and I knew something was wrong when the technician said to me, “Oh!  You’re very early.  Are you about 6 weeks?”  I was 8 weeks pregnant. Mother to Leia Grace

Delivered still on January 11, 2011

North Carolina

Our story begins just over three years ago. My husband and I had met two years prior and were married in April 2008. We were both very ready to start a family and build our lives together. We tried for almost one year on our own and then we both went to get checked out and make sure there was nothing wrong with us. Our doctor diagnosed us with “unexplained infertility.” They were not sure why we were not having success with conceiving on our own as there was nothing medically wrong with either one of us. My husband and I knew that we wanted two children. We decided that on our first date. He is the middle child of 5, and I am the oldest of 3. Two seemed to be the perfect number. Tables at restaurants are designed for families of four, cars are designed for four, our home is made for four. Two children would make our already blessed life even more blessed. [Read more…]

I am a face of a miscarriage. My little angel started his adventure to earth before Mother’s Day 2009. My boyfriend, at the time, Charles and I were expecting our first child together. We found out on Mother’s Day that we were expecting when I took 3 at home pregnancy tests because I was unable to believe the first one. We called our local health department and made an appointment to confirm the results which was still the same, pregnant. At that moment, they told me I was due January 22, 2010. [Read more…]

When my cousin lost her baby boy in June 2008 due to placental abruption at 6 months into her pregnancy our whole family grieved for her loss. I couldn’t imagine how this hit us so close to home and how anybody could get through it. I gave my cousin a book to help her grieve through her unimaginable loss. Little did I know that almost exactly 2 years to the month my cousin lost her little boy, she would giving that book back to me to read, as I would be going through my own pregnancy loss in June of 2010.  [Read more…]

February 1, 2011

Portland, OR

Life can change in an instant, or in my family’s case, just under 24 hours.  I lost my second son Griffin on February 1st, 2011.  Griffin was born at 24 weeks and 2 days.

I am a worrier by nature, with my first son I worried about miscarriage, and then (ironically) I worried about premature birth and then after awhile I relaxed into pregnancy.  With my second I felt confident that I had done this before and could/would do it again.  I did however have a few feelings that something just wasn’t right, a mothers intuition perhaps.  I would think to myself that this pregnancy just wasn’t going to happen, and then I would shake my head and give myself a hard time for being so negative. Labor induced at 22 weeks due to fatal birth defect

Blacklick, OH

This story begins on September 18, 2010 when I took a pregnancy test and it was positive! After the loss of our first pregnancy at 8 weeks, this was the healing we were looking for. We went to the doctor’s office just a couple weeks later (5 weeks pregnant) and saw our little grain of rice-sized baby on the ultrasound. The little heart was just beating away as strong as it could be. We went again for ultrasounds at 7 and 9 weeks. We breathed a small sigh of relief to have made it further along than we had with baby #1. We thought this was going to be the one! [Read more…]
