Mom to John Luke

July 6, 2006

Wichita, Kansas

At the 32 week check up, I measured a little small. The doctor considered a sonogram. If she was concerned, I was willing to do the sonogram. I wanted a healthy baby. The doctor decided the sonogram didn’t need to be done. I felt regular movements from the baby and waited for my July 5th appointment.

On July 5, 2006, I went in for my 33 week checkup. The nurse, nor the doctor could find a heartbeat and my child had passed in the womb. I was told to go to the hospital across the street and check in. I called my boyfriend at the time (Jonathan) and notified him, his family and mine as well. Upon check-in, I wasn’t prepared to hear that what my doctor said was to be true. I was induced.
On July 6, 2006, sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. I gave birth to John Luke. He was just like any other baby, precious and cute, but only 2 pounds 2 ounces. I knew his soul was with Jesus.
On July 10, 2006, myself and my boyfriend at the time (John Luke’s father, Jonathan) visited our little man before he was to be laid to rest in eternity a day later.
On July 11, 2006, I laid my little man to rest at a graveside service, where a lot of family and friends came to be moral support. John Luke was buried, but my little man will always be by my side checking on me and his little sister, and other family.
