Mom to Brody Stewart

Born and died March 6, 2012

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

We got married in August 2011. Eric and I have wanted children for a long time. Just after our wedding, we got pregnant right away. We knew this baby was special, as our pregnancy went problem free. I felt amazing the entire time, and every kick from him was a reminder of how lucky we truly were. Every OB appointment that passed was so exciting, and getting to hear his heartbeat month after month, made us more and more excited to have our little guy at home soon.

When I went for my 28 week check up, Brody’s heartbeat was not found. I was sent to the hospital, where they informed my husband and me that our little guy was gone. We were able to get through the delivery because of the strength that Brody instilled in our hearts. His passing was caused by a cord accident. We knew even though he was not there with us in physical form, he was there to stay in spirit.

We feel him around us every day. We will never stop loving him, and he will always be our first baby.

  1. Katelyn, I’m so sorry for your loss. Our stories are so much the same. My husband and I were married in August and got pregnant right away. We lost Easton due to a cord accident on March 5th, I was 30 weeks pregnant. I know what you mean when you say his love is all around you. We feel the same about Easton. God Bless you and your husband. You’re in my prayers.

Thanks Dawn for your reply, I am so sorry that you and your husband have had to endure the same heartbreaking incidents. I never thought this would happen to us. The doctors were very helpful and tried to ease our minds by saying this would likely never happen again b/c cord accidents are so rare…but we are still going to be worried with our next pregnancy im sure. If you ever want to keep in touch my email is posted here :) god bless and im sorry for your loss xo

  2. ((Hugs)) Katelyn, thanks for sharing your story here. I love how confidant you are that Brody is still with you, I wish all moms had your faith!

  3. Katelyn and Eric,

Words can not express, but I found some that inspire.

But love is born in life, and death cannot end it.
