When we got pregnant we had tried to conceive for a few years and had also added two cycles of IVF to the mix of building our family. To finally be pregnant was a victory and we couldn’t wait to meet our baby. A true miracle it was.

It started well.  April and I was pregnant, again I knew straight away and my trusty Clear Blue Digital confirmed 1-2 weeks.  It had to be all good this time, as long as it wasn’t twins we knew what to do – start the Aspirin and go and get some blood thinners prescribed.

For me this story,  it is a little ironic to know that I write about my sons in a non-tangible place the internet, where their story will forever be ‘in the cloud’ – like my boys. So I will start slowly…..this is the story of Vincenzo and Benedetto, our sons.  It might well start with Once Upon a Time if you like…….I met my husband and from the moment I saw him I knew I would always love him.  This feeling hasn’t changed in the nine years we have been together.  We wanted to wait until after marriage to have children and in 2009 we got married.   Last year we decided that we were ready and so in May 2010 I tentatively came off the pill and, well you can guess the rest.  In August 2010 I used three pregnancy testers plus one of those really expensive digital ones to tell me that I was 1-2 weeks pregnant.  Just like that-wow!  Hello Little Sprout. Where to start? I married the love of my life in 2009 and just over a year later we decided to try for a baby. To our surprise the first month we fell pregnant. Apart from a lot of morning sickness all was happy and healthy. Our estimated due date was February the 14th, Valentine’s day, how romantic! I’d always disliked Valentine’s Day but our little baby was due then and that would make it very special. We spent the 9 months bonding with this bump, calling the baby he as we just felt there was a little boy in there. Six days before our EDD our little fella decided he was ready to meet mama and daddy. At 13.08 on the 8th of February 2011 Angus Andrew Wu was born along with a love I’d never felt before. At that moment our lives changed. We just didn’t expect it to be like this. He was a happy and healthy little boy and we went home the same day he was born. We had 3 blissful days with our son as a family. Those 3 days are held so dear in our hearts, perfection, pure perfection. I didn’t care how little sleep I got I just looked at our son in awe. Gideon, my first child, a tiny warrior, died in the special care baby unit at only 17 days old. This is his story.

We had been trying to get pregnant for 2 years, so the day we got our first ever positive pregnancy test was the most exciting and happiest of my life. But I was also cautious; I was terrified I was going to miscarry, and so we tried not to tell people for a while. But at 8 weeks we had a scan, and our baby was fine, measuring on target with a good heart rate, so we plucked up the courage to announce the pregnancy. On Monday the 26th July 10 my baby was quite active, I went to go for my nap around lunchtime, and the baby was kicking like mad, I laid in bed and felt a really big kick/odd movement, I remember thinking that was weird, I fell asleep and woke up at 2pm.  For the rest of the day i felt nothing but i had my ten movements and he had been active so i was not worried.

The worst experience ever….. Sunday, May 23rd, I stayed over my mums house ready to go out for the day with the family the next day. We arrived at the beach, and it was such a lovely day spending time with the family as well as the sun being out. Later on that day, I went to my home where me and my partner David live together. I decided to stay at my mums again that night, as me and David had a falling out.

It wasn’t until Sunday 1st March 2009 that we got our long awaited BFP. We were finally going to become a proper family after 28 months of trying.
