Amy

Mom to Aliya Amy and Bennett Paul

Lost August 5, 2011

Tenino, Washington

Paul and I were introduced in April 2005 by my friend Amanda, who was engaged to Paul’s younger brother (she’s my sister-in-law now). Even though I was dating someone else at the time, she declared me Paul’s perfect match and would not let it go! She was right, of course…although very different, we were perfect for each other. Our paths crossed again in July 2005, and since I had broken up with the other guy, Paul found the nerve to ask me out. We had our first date a couple of weeks later and have been together ever since. We got engaged Thanksgiving weekend 2005 and married in September 2006. We started trying for our first child in October 2007, one month after our first wedding anniversary. I’d been on and off birth control for years to prevent pregnancy…little did I know how difficult it would actually be for us to get pregnant. [Read more…]

Our journey started unexpectedly in January 2007 when we conceived our first son. We hadn’t been trying and in fact had just started birth control. We lost our little boy before we even knew of his existence. For the longest time, I didn’t even tell Chris (or anyone else for that matter). I just dealt with it on my own and reminded myself that we were nowhere near ready to have a child together. [Read more…]

Tania

Mom to twins Jackson and Isabella

Passed away at 18 weeks and 22 weeks

D&E December 20, 2010

York, Pennsylvania

We live in York, PA where we have one of the best NICUs around. We know this because of our experience with our son, Wyatt, who was born 5 years earlier at 27 weeks gestation, weighing 1 lb 9 oz and measuring 12 inches long. There was no explanation as to why he was born so prematurely, other than the blood flow through the cord was not adequate. Every other test on me, the placenta and the cord…nothing was found. We had a lengthy stay in the NICU, three and a half months, but were able to come home and today, five years later, have a healthy thriving boy, our miracle! [Read more…]

Mom to twins Brielle Grace and Maia Hope at 9wk0d

Memorial date November 4, 2011, birthday November 7, 2011

Phoenix, AZ

My name is Katlyn Hudgins and I married my wonderful husband Andrew February 6, 2010. We knew we wanted a big family with lots of children and most of them adopted. We only planned to have one, maybe two biological children and adopt at least two or three. We wanted to try to start having kids winter of 2011 but to our wonderful and excited surprise we found ourselves pregnant in April of 2011. It was earlier than we planned but we didn’t care, we were over the moon. Things were stressful because we were still both uni students and worked full time but we knew God gave us this baby for a reason. Just a few short weeks later I had some spotting. I knew that little spotting was normal but it was so painful I nearly collapsed on the floor at work. Being blessed that I worked in the same office as my mom I called her on my cell phone and without a word she knew I needed her. She helped me into her classroom and called my doctor for me while I called my husband. The doctor said to go straight to the ER because of the pain. The pain was very sharp and this worried them thinking it may have been ectopic. [Read more…]

Laura

Mom to twins, a boy and a girl, lost at 18 weeks on March 30, 2006

Mila Louise, stillborn at 41 weeks on July 1, 2011

Minneapolis, Minnesota

In 2004, when I was 27, my husband and I began trying to conceive. After months of not having any sign of a menstrual cycle, we were referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. After many more months of brutally high doses of fertility drugs we finally got pregnant through intrauterine insemination. We were thrilled, however terrified at the same time because over stimulation of my ovaries caused me to become pregnant with quadruplets. At the suggestion of our perinatal doctor, we reduced the pregnancy to twins at 12 weeks. At 14 weeks and then again at 16 weeks my water broke. It was a gushing of fluid, but I thought I had incontinence and never considered that it could be amniotic fluid. On March 27, 2006, at 18 weeks, we went in for our level II ultrasound and found that neither baby had any amniotic fluid. Our baby boy did not have a heartbeat and our baby girl was alive but struggling with no amniotic fluid remaining. I had a D&E and began the journey to become parents once again. I was devastated, angry, and afraid, but we would not stop until we had our baby. [Read more…]

Claudia

mum to Vincenzo & Benedetto

07/01/2011

Buckinghamshire, UK

For me this story,  it is a little ironic to know that I write about my sons in a non-tangible place the internet, where their story will forever be ‘in the cloud’ – like my boys. So I will start slowly…..this is the story of Vincenzo and Benedetto, our sons.  It might well start with Once Upon a Time if you like…….I met my husband and from the moment I saw him I knew I would always love him.  This feeling hasn’t changed in the nine years we have been together.  We wanted to wait until after marriage to have children and in 2009 we got married.   Last year we decided that we were ready and so in May 2010 I tentatively came off the pill and, well you can guess the rest.  In August 2010 I used three pregnancy testers plus one of those really expensive digital ones to tell me that I was 1-2 weeks pregnant.  Just like that-wow!  Hello Little Sprout. Amanda

Mom to Aubre Lynn and Colton Scott

Miscarried June 23rd, 2011 and June 24th, 2011

Washington/Prosperity, Pennsylvania

Where to start? Well, my husband (Scott) and I tried for 3 years to conceive on our own. Finally, we went and saw a fertility specialist. Long story short we conceived on our 1st try! We both were very excited. My fertility Dr. told me with what my blood count was at he was thinking it was multiples. We ended up conceiving twins. We both were very excited;  matter of fact our whole family was excited. I was doing great, feeling great and all of the ultrasounds were great. We had an ultrasound on June 22nd, 2011 (I was 18 weeks 1 day). Both babies were very active and moving around a lot. [Read more…]

and Tegan L.

Born and Died April 25th, 2008

Lancaster, PA

Almost three years ago, I lost my innocence when I became a mother to our precious twins, Anya and Tegan. Could it really be nearly three years already? I can’t imagine that we have survived 36 months – countless holidays, family gatherings, and quiet nights – without their presence. I’ll never understand why they were born too soon, why Amy started spotting on a Wednesday evening in April 2008. She held up the toilet paper for me to see the evidence while I was chatting on the phone with my mom. With a finger to her lips, she beckoned me not to tell. Why would I tell? What would I tell? Heather
Mom to Mackenzie Renee, Born Sleeping October 6th, 2005
and Brendan Jon, Born Sleeping October 27th, 2005
Madison Heights, Michigan
My husband and I tried for a year on our own to become pregnant, after no success we turned to a fertility specialist.  I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).  In order to become pregnant I had to take Clomid, FSH injections and HCG injections in order to ovulate.  After 3 years of hormones and several miscarriages (more than I can count on two hands) we finally became pregnant with twins in June 2005.   We were excited and nervous at the same time.  Every couple of days I went for blood work to monitor my hormone levels.  The numbers kept doubling as they were supposed to.   Everything was going along as expected, each week that passed was a happy one.

Mom to Brett Allen
Born Still June 2nd, 2008
Park, Kansas
After having one child I finally had convinced my husband to start trying for our second child in June of 2007. I have ovulation issues and have to be on Clomid to help us conceive. I was on Clomid with my first pregnancy and we were shocked that it only took us one cycle to get pregnant, so we expected the same with my second pregnancy.
