My husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first in March 2011. We have been together for 16 years (since the early days of high school), so it was about time and we were elated. It was a very long, complicated pregnancy (Downs Syndrome scare, some baby kidney and heart problems – all of which turned out to be fine), but at 29 weeks they told us we could finally relax and start to enjoy the pregnancy. We did and went out and got everything we needed for our little boy, and oh how exciting it all was! [Read more…]

I should be getting ready to have my daughter this week – not writing this submission.  My due date was supposed to be Christmas day, and we were so happy!  It was a blessing and miracle that I was even pregnant in the first place…I have Lupus and high blood pressure, and never really thought I’d have children.  My husband and I were married 7 months when we found out we were expecting.  We started thinking of names right away, and dreaming about what our future child would be like.  [Read more…]

I had a pretty normal pregnancy up till my 7th month. I was due 11/22/2011. I had switched doctors and well my new OBGYN was not happy with my blood pressure. After my first 24 hour urine catch I was shown to have mild preeclampsia So from the end of September to mid October I was being sent to LDR for non stress testing and doing 24 hour urine catches every week. The urine catches for to test for protein in my urine…a sign of preeclampsia and at this point was to make sure it went no higher. [Read more…]

It started well.  April and I was pregnant, again I knew straight away and my trusty Clear Blue Digital confirmed 1-2 weeks.  It had to be all good this time, as long as it wasn’t twins we knew what to do – start the Aspirin and go and get some blood thinners prescribed.

For me this story,  it is a little ironic to know that I write about my sons in a non-tangible place the internet, where their story will forever be ‘in the cloud’ – like my boys. So I will start slowly…..this is the story of Vincenzo and Benedetto, our sons.  It might well start with Once Upon a Time if you like…….I met my husband and from the moment I saw him I knew I would always love him.  This feeling hasn’t changed in the nine years we have been together.  We wanted to wait until after marriage to have children and in 2009 we got married.   Last year we decided that we were ready and so in May 2010 I tentatively came off the pill and, well you can guess the rest.  In August 2010 I used three pregnancy testers plus one of those really expensive digital ones to tell me that I was 1-2 weeks pregnant.  Just like that-wow!  Hello Little Sprout. My husband and I have been together since our early 20’s and we got married just one year ago on 11/12/2010. We were so excited to start our family, which was the natural progression after getting married.  So you can imagine my surprise on 3/4/2011 when I got a positive pregnancy test, or two.. Since I did not believe it either.  [Read more…]

Miscarried at 12w5d on October 29, 2011

Houston, Texas

My first pregnancy in 2010 with my daughter Lyla was very scary. We found out we were pregnant in January and were so excited! Everything was good until March. I had an extreme amount of bleeding that I woke up to at 2 am one night. I was only 13 weeks. I was so scared but never gave up hope for my baby. I was in and out of the doctor’s office and E.R. that day getting ultrasounds. No one could figure out why I was bleeding the way I was, and some believed I was going to miscarry. The only explanation was that they found that I have a bicornuate uterus (heart-shaped) and maybe that was the cause for the bleeding. They could see the baby, always fine and dancing, in the right horn and a large bleed in the left horn that was about 8 cm.  I was put on complete bedrest to wait it out at home. Once the bleeding subsided after a few days, I starting getting severe cramping/contractions and started passing large blood clots. I was so scared, but still never gave up hope. I remember calling the nurse and asking her about what was going on and she said that if I was going to miscarry, there was nothing they could do. That made me really upset. [Read more…]

In July of 2006, my husband and I learned we were pregnant after two and a half grueling years of trying to conceive, with and without intervention.  The initial joy was short-lived as the positive pregnancy test was VERY positive indeed.  We were pregnant with quintuplets.  What followed was a series of scientific discussions with various doctors all throwing grim statistics about morbidity and mortality of the babies and myself as well.  There was continued urging to reduce to twins or a singleton.  It was a decision I never imagined having to face and if faced with the same situation and the same choices laid out in front of me today, I would not do it again.  [Read more…]

May 2009, I confirmed that I was pregnant.  I was so happy because I’ve been wanting to have another baby after waiting for 3yrs.  I had preeclampsia with my first son, born at 7months and only 2lbs 2oz.  I told my Doctor I want to see my ob-gyn for my very delicate pregnancy, she ignored my plea, she told me it’s too early to be referred to specialist, and then she left me waiting for a month and went to her vacation. When I discovered I was pregnant, I was sure that I was carrying a boy, and so did almost everyone around me. So much for mother’s intuition!

After 4 years of marriage, my husband and I decided that we were ready to have a child of our own. I got pregnant right away. We thought we were so lucky: lucky that we had waited until we felt ready to be parents, lucky that the baby would have a very nice home and parents that never fought, and lucky to conceive so quickly and easily. At my first OB appointment, we saw the flicker of a heartbeat and were congratulated. I went to see a perintologist due to a pulmonary embolism I had several years before. He got me started on daily Lovenox injections, just in case. I had used Lovenox before, so while I wasn’t thrilled to start again, I did exactly as he said with no hesitation. The first trimester was easy, I was usually slightly nauseous, but I never got really sick. Things were going so well, or so I had thought. [Read more…]

My husband, Michael, and I had been married for a little less than a year when decided wanted to start our family.  We decided we would let nature take its own course, we weren’t ‘exactly’ trying but we weren’t preventing either.  When it happened it would happened. We were extremely surprised to get a positive pregnancy test the next month. We were so excited; we called everyone we knew to tell them the exciting news! Less than a month later we were devastated to discover that the baby had never developed. It was extremely heartbreaking to have to tell everyone that we had lost our baby. [Read more…]

KYLEE’S STORY: NO LONGER IN MOMMY’S ARMS BUT FOREVER IN HER HEART

Her story actually began before Friday January 23, 2004 but, that is when I discovered thanks to two little pink lines that I was expecting my first baby, I was 21-years-old… Of course like a good deal of mommies I pictured a Sweet, Beautiful, Baby Girl and visions of cute pink dresses and frilly outfits. My pregnancy was perfect; my only problem was awesome “morning” sickness. I couldn’t wait to find out what I was having (although I suspected my baby was a girl), my suspicions were confirmed on April 7th, her father was happy and excited but also a little sad because just 3 months earlier he was suddenly prevented from seeing his then 23-month-old son by the mother. When my partner came back from a couple of months of studying in Spain in July 2008, we started trying to have a baby.  Along the way to getting pregnant, we got married and bought a house with good space for kids and a nice yard.  We had a lot of patience and did not go see a doctor for a fertility work-up until we had been trying for 16 months.  In the end, we had to do IVF to get pregnant. All my life I was sure of one thing and that was someday I was going to be a mom.  I was never sure of what I wanted to “do” for a living but I KNEW I had to have kids.  I wanted a lot of kids.  When I was 18 I was diagnosed with PID and told that this would decrease my chances of being able to have a baby by 25% I cried and was sad but moved past that quickly as at 18 I wasn’t planning on kids anytime soon. Born and Passed January 22nd, 2011

My boyfriend Latrell and I were only together a couple months when we first found out we had gotten pregnant. We were very excited yet very nervous. So I started to get my insurance and everything situated then out of no where 3 weeks later we had a miscarriage. I was so devastated I was only 8 weeks along and it came out of nowhere. So I started looking up online about getting pregnant again and the one thing I kept coming across was most women get pregnant almost instantly after having 2 normal periods. Well I guess they were right almost exactly 2 months later we got pregnant again with our daughter Jayla. My boyfriend was at work the night I found out, so I went straight to his job to show him the test. We were more than excited we had another chance. [Read more…]

Mom to Judy Amena
Born Still December 22nd, 2010
Arlington, Virginia
I became pregnant with my first child in April, 2010. My husband and I were thrilled and the pregnancy was unbelievably easy for the first several months. All of my prenatal appointment went well and I never had morning sickness or any seriously bothersome symptoms. Like every new mother, I was very anxious to see my baby, and so I did an elective 3-d ultrasound around 18 weeks. We found out we were having a girl, and I was thrilled. However, the first tech left us for a very long time during the ultrasound and when she came back in she had her co-worker with her. The co-worker was acting very strangely with us, but neither said a word about what they saw as the continued the ultrasound. When my mother asked if the baby looked okay, she simply waved her hands back and forth and said “we don’t EVEN LOOK for that sort of thing”. Although I noticed that their behavior was very strange, I was so excited that ignored it completely.

I had always loved children, have the biggest love for them ever since the age of 12. I babysat families babies ages infant to 9 years old. Worked in a daycare & was a nanny for a 3 month old baby boy & soon a few months later his baby sister. I dreamed about the day I would be able to have my own someday! I just had that natural love care for children.
