April

Mom to Emery Rose

October 20, 2015-October 21, 2015

Whiteland, Indiana

In August 2014, I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and told that I likely would never be able to conceive a child again.  My husband and I accepted this and actually were not looking to have any more children.  At the time, we already had a boy 11 and a girl 4.  It was something we just took off of our radar and continued on.

In April of 2015, I discovered I was pregnant. We were shocked and nervous, but I was still so excited.  The day I found out I was pregnant I went in for blood work.  The very next day the doctor’s office called and said that I had very low progesterone.  I remember the nurse asking, “Are you bleeding, spotting or cramping?”  I told her no and that I actually felt fine.  She seemed quite surprised and said she would call in a prescription for progesterone and that I needed an ultrasound the same week.  The ultrasound confirmed what we already knew and they determined a due date of December 10, 2015.

When you’re younger, you think about your life and whether or not you want to have children. You might already know you want them so you imagine being pregnant with your cute little bump, a lovely baby shower with your closest friends and family, and then you daydream about what your little one will be like and whether they will look like Mommy or Daddy, who they will grow up to be and so on. Never does it cross anyone’s mind that the child you have longed for, planned for, waited to welcome into this world, would be gone so quickly and there would be nothing you could do.

Tracey

Mom to Ryan

Born into Heaven July 3, 2008

Roswell, Georgia

Everything was going well with my pregnancy, even though I was of advanced maternal age (i.e. old).  Four months into my pregnancy I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid).  I was sent to have a level 2 ultrasound, which I received weekly throughout my pregnancy.  I was lucky to spend up to an hour each week watching my baby grow inside me.  They looked him over head to toe and could only find that he was perfect in every way.  Usually with polyhydramnios the excess fluid can mean that the baby isn’t swallowing or peeing the amniotic fluid, which can be caused by a hole in the esophagus, kidney issues, etc.  They found none of that, so I never worried.  I thought everything was going to be fine and I was meant to have this little boy. What I didn’t know was that because of the excess fluid, cord accidents can happen.  Because of my size, I didn’t feel him move as often as a pregnancy without polyhydramnios.  I had my last level 2 ultrasound on Thursday, June 26th 2008 and as soon as I saw Ryan he had his palm up in the air facing me like he was saying “Hi”.  Again, everything was perfect.  I was 30 1/2 weeks and the only worry I had was making it full term. Mom to Dominic Alejandro Torres
March 25th, 2010- March 26th, 2010
Ocala, FL
My story begins like any other and ended in a horrible loss. I didn’t know I was pregnant with Dominic until a car wreck forced me into physical therapy. Which forced me into getting CT Scans; and other imaging done. Except, I never got them done because a pregnancy test revealed I was indeed pregnant. Pregnant after, at the least, 6 different trips to the ER said no. But, I was and began coming up with names and enjoying my pregnancy. Until my 5th month.

I found out that I was pregnant with Baylee in July of 2009. My husband, Adam, and I already had 2 wonderful boys, Tyler and Noah. Tyler was 10 and Noah was at the time. I was suffering from a pretty bad case of “baby fever”. We were very excited when the test came back positive.
