It all started with multiple positive pregnancy tests three days before Christmas. I was beyond thrilled and I instantly started crying at the sight of those two pink lines. Naturally I thought of a cute way to tell my fiancé, so I wrapped the test up and waited until he came home. He was so excited and he was speechless. We had been trying for 15 months and were starting to get disappointed, but we got our Christmas miracle. I was told when I was in my early teen years that it could be hard for me to conceive due to being abused as a child, so I was ecstatic. [Read more...]

Lost to ectopic pregnancy October 2008
Akron, Ohio
At nineteen years old I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was told many different things from many different doctors, ranging from, “You will never be able to have children,” to “The only way I tell someone they will never have children is if they do not have a uterus.” December 25, 2007, at the age of 33, I found out I was pregnant (exactly 17 weeks 4 days…yes I missed my entire first trimester!). I had defied the odds that were against me…this was a miracle!! At this point I was single, finishing grad school and a full time teacher. May 29, 2008, Jacob came into this world and today he is a healthy, happy, intelligent light in my world!!

I started having Braxton Hicks at around 19 weeks. Nothing to be worried about, except once after we moved. I was having them for a good 45 minutes about every 4-5 minutes. I called my doctor and we stopped them. About 2 weeks later (maybe sooner, it’s all been a rush), I woke up about 6:15am with Braxton Hicks…the ones I had gone to bed with. But then I started getting pains..”Oh crap, I’m constipated.” These pains, oh my goodness, they kept getting worse. I went downstairs and tried to walk around, drink water, and I laid down. Boyfriend was upstairs in bed still, it was a Saturday. About 11 or so, I woke him up because I couldn’t take it anymore. I called Labor & Delivery and they told me to get some Milk of Magnesia. My boyfriend ran to the store and got it, came back a half hour or so later, but it wasn’t working and the pain was getting worse. [Read more...]

I think the easiest way to tell my story is to just start from the beginning. My son, Mazio , had just turned one in June of 2010. My husband, Ben , and I had been anxiously awaiting the one year mark to start trying to conceive again. Since I had a csection with my son at 29 weeks due to preeclampsia we were told to wait one full year before trying. I was so excited and anxious to be pregnant again. I was also a bit scared as well since the chance of another preeclamptic pregnancy was now higher. We had only tried for a month when I by chance had a gut feeling to take a test. To my excitement and surprise it was positive right away. I was so thrilled that I couldn’t wait for Ben to get home from work to tell him so I took a picture of the test with my phone and sent it to him with the text “ Guess what?” He was excited and came home smiling. KYLEE’S STORY: NO LONGER IN MOMMY’S ARMS BUT FOREVER IN HER HEART
Her story actually began before Friday January 23, 2004 but, that is when I discovered thanks to two little pink lines that I was expecting my first baby, I was 21-years-old… Of course like a good deal of mommies I pictured a Sweet, Beautiful, Baby Girl and visions of cute pink dresses and frilly outfits. My pregnancy was perfect; my only problem was awesome “morning” sickness. I couldn’t wait to find out what I was having (although I suspected my baby was a girl), my suspicions were confirmed on April 7th, her father was happy and excited but also a little sad because just 3 months earlier he was suddenly prevented from seeing his then 23-month-old son by the mother. My SONshine
On a day when most like to play practical jokes, I found out I had nothing to joke about but, rather, jump of joy. On April 1st 2011, I found out I was pregnant with my first child. My husband, Leandre and I were filled with complete and utter joy! We had wanted to start a family for months. We went through the three months of morning (or should I say, everyday) sickness. The weight gain. The doctor visits. The careful diet. All of those wonderful and amazing things, that most of us take for granted, but that I never will again. [Read more...]

I was asked to be at the hospital at 8 a.m. on the morning of July 6, 2011, to be induced. I was only 4 days overdue according to my OB. I had always said I never wanted induction, but as a doctor, I assumed he knew what was best. They started me on Pitocin as soon as I arrived. I was 1 cm dilated, 70% effaced, and the baby was still at -3 position. They inserted a folly catheter to irritate my cervix to try and help me dilate. At 2 p.m., I got up to walk to the bathroom and a rush of water came down my leg. The nurse on duty said it “smelled like amniotic fluid”, and called the Dr. to order my epidural. She also said that thanks to the cath, I was now 3 cm dilated. [Read more...]
This story begins on September 18, 2010 when I took a pregnancy test and it was positive! After the loss of our first pregnancy at 8 weeks, this was the healing we were looking for. We went to the doctor’s office just a couple weeks later (5 weeks pregnant) and saw our little grain of rice-sized baby on the ultrasound. The little heart was just beating away as strong as it could be. We went again for ultrasounds at 7 and 9 weeks. We breathed a small sigh of relief to have made it further along than we had with baby #1. We thought this was going to be the one! [Read more...]

Baby lost to Ectopic Pregnancy
May 2011
Logan, Ohio
On May 5,2011 I got my positive home test. I was so excited, me and my fiance were talking about having another child but we really didn’t expect it to happen this soon but it did, and we were willing to do whatever it took to make ends meet. I called an OB to schedule my first appointment. They had told me to come in on May 18th at 2:30pm. May 14th rolls around and I noticed that I was having some horrible sharp pains down in the lower part of my stomach on the right side. I had no clue what it could be, and with the biggest fear which was I thought I was miscarrying I drove to the hospital with Michael at my side. They took some blood, did a urine test and gave me a ultrasound. The blood and urine came back positive, and the ultrasound looked ok to the ER doctor. So he told me that I had a cyst on my right ovary and it is possible that was causing the pain. Told me to take some tylenol and if the pain got worse or if I started to bleed to come back. I am a mother of a 2 year old son, so I feel guilty writing about my losses as I already have a living child, but I have come to learn that any loss is painful so I am here to share my story. My husband and I decided that it seemed like the right time to start trying around June of 2010. We had no issues with our son so we assumed this would be a breeze and I was, at the time, uneducated and unaware of any situation involving any kind of pregnancy loss. However, that changed all too quickly. [Read more...]

Mom to Michael Joseph
Born Still at 28 weeks 3 days on February 20th, 2010
Groveport, Ohio
In February 20, 2010, at 28 weeks and 3 days of pregnancy, our baby boy, Michael Joseph was delivered still. I had gone to my midwife that morning after not feeling any movement for a couple days. I had felt a funny twinge a couple days before that, but didn’t think much of it because I had that same feeling a few weeks prior. My midwife could not locate a heartbeat, and my blood pressure was quite high, so she suggested we go to the nearest hospital emergency room. [Read more...]
