Mom to Paisley Lynn

May 23, 2015

Columbus, Ohio

Since day one everyone has told me it would help to talk to someone who has been through what I’ve been through. It will help you to heal and cope, it will give you hope to hear about success after loss. All of that sounds great, but it is easier said than done. It isn’t like people walk around carrying a sign saying I lost my daughter/son. I can’t go to the group meetings suggested by the hospital because I don’t do well in a social setting. I am a very shy and private person. I always have been and most likely always will be. [Read more…]

Mom to Jackson Davis

Born and Died February 25, 2015

Cleveland, Ohio

When you’re younger, you think about your life and whether or not you want to have children. You might already know you want them so you imagine being pregnant with your cute little bump, a lovely baby shower with your closest friends and family, and then you daydream about what your little one will be like and whether they will look like Mommy or Daddy, who they will grow up to be and so on. Never does it cross anyone’s mind that the child you have longed for, planned for, waited to welcome into this world, would be gone so quickly and there would be nothing you could do.

Mom to Benjamin David
October 20, 2014 – November 19, 2014
Lorain, Ohio
When midnight struck, I decided that Ben was sleeping deep enough to lay him in his Arm’s Reach Co-sleeper. He would start out in there every night. But man, he despised not being in my arms! I thought  [my son] Trae was the biggest Momma’s boy, ever. Then, I had Ben lol! Ben slept in his co-sleeper until about 2 or 3 am. I awoke to him fussing, so I put him next to me, laid on my side, and latched him on to eat. And as crappy as it is, I don’t even remember falling asleep. I just did. I never heard another fuss, cry, or anything from Ben that night. He was always so content when sleeping next to me. He had started sleeping so good in the early hours of the morning. Ben was starting to love sleep, almost as much as he loved to eat.

Mom to Lydia

Stillborn November 6, 2014

Columbus, Ohio

On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, I was driving to my regular OB check-up. My 34 week check up. I enjoyed some extra time with my toddler son that morning, thinking how our time was limited since his sister would be here soon.  It had started to hit me how soon the baby would be here – with a planned c-section date of December 12, it was just over 5 weeks away.

Mom to Jonah Christopher

July 4, 2012 – July 17, 2012

Cincinnati, Ohio

A few weeks after my 17th birthday, I found out I was pregnant. I was a junior in high school and my peers were discussing where they would be applying to college, summer plans, and how amazing our senior year was going to be. I no longer had the same priorities as the people I had known since middle school. I was wary of telling people I was pregnant, mainly because of the social stigma that comes along with being a teenage mother.

Mother to Keira Jocelyn

Born August 22, 2012
Departed December 5, 2012

Akron, Ohio

9 January 2013
A year ago today, there was a girl sitting in the Cleveland MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station). She was cold. Young. Over caffeinated. She was curled into herself as if protecting something that lived deep inside her. She was scared. She was humiliated. She waited four cold, embarrassing hours, looking at the people she should have followed as they did what she always dreamed she would– protect and defend their country. That girl was me.

Once upon a time… in a not so far away land, I met my prince charming and we were happily married. Little did we know where the journey of our family would take us… [Read more…]

Mom to Brooklyn Eloise

Born Sleeping June 27, 2012

Toledo, OH

I found out I was pregnant 2 days after our 6th wedding anniversary. We had been not trying not preventing for about 6 months. I might have been trying a little bit)… I had a perfect, uneventful pregnancy, never any morning sickness, active. I felt great up until the end. I would remark to friends I didn’t know what all the complaining was about, that I could be pregnant for another 6 months.

My husband(34) and I(32) will be married for 10 years on April 17, 2014. The following month(May) we will also approach the 10th year of trying to conceive our first child.

My story and our journey through losses starts back when I was diagnosed with PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome at the age of 14. When diagnosed, I was told that it would be difficult if not completely impossible for me to have children. It scared me to death because I have always wanted to be a mother and always thought I would have a big family. [Read more…]

Mom to Leighton

Lost September 7, 2012

Columbus, Ohio

I found out on July 8th that we were expecting. I was 4 weeks pregnant and due March 15th! So close to my mom’s (March 6th) and my father-in-law’s (March 9th) birthdays! How cool! We were so excited, and so were our daughters!

From day one of finding out I was pregnant, I just had a weird feeling about something, while also having a lot of abdominal pains. At 6 weeks, we finally decided to just go to the hospital and have me checked over. At first they couldn’t figure out what was wrong, but knew something was. They thought I was pregnant with twins and one didn’t make it. They soon realized my hCG levels were not rising enough to be pregnant with twins. My hCG levels were actually lower than they should have been for a 6 week pregnancy. Then we found out that I had a cyst on one side of our baby and a “bleed” on the other. We were worried, but were reassured that for now everything was ok. They scheduled me for an ultrasound and hCG levels checked a couple days later, and everything was good with both! [Read more…]

Mom to Langston Elliot

Miscarried November 15, 2011

West Carrollton, Ohio

I first found out I was five weeks pregnant with Langston exactly one month before we lost him, October 15, 2011. This was my first pregnancy and my husband and I were ecstatic! We had not planned for a child, but we were happy nevertheless. We already had a name picked for him and began to come up with nursery ideas right away. We decided on Classic Pooh whether it was a boy or a girl. Even though Langston passed away before we really knew his gender, I could just tell he was boy by the way I felt. We had mapped out the nursery and told our family and friends early on (we even bought a crib set off eBay). We felt like a miscarriage could never happen to us, because my mom kept telling me how I was born to have babies. I never thought anything of it. [Read more…]

Baby B, lost April 2012 at 10 weeks,

 Jaxon Gray,
Born still on June 28, 2012 at 20 weeks

Dayton, Ohio

On March 27th, a week after our son turned 5, we found out we were expecting. We were so happy! We had been trying for 2 years. Our son had been asking for a sibling for awhile, so we were so happy that we could finally give him one! At 7 weeks we had an ultrasound to check for a healthy baby and get an exact due date since we had no idea when we conceived. Well, were we really surprised when we saw 2 little peanuts and 2 little fluttering hearts! Never did we ever expect to naturally get pregnant with twins! And identical twins at that! Baby B was a little smaller but looked good and had a strong heartbeat. I had never been so tired in my life; these little babies were taking everything from me! By 10 weeks I had lost almost 15 pounds! [Read more…]

Mom to Baby Kester

Born and Passed on February 17, 2012

Northeast Ohio

It all started with multiple positive pregnancy tests three days before Christmas. I was beyond thrilled and I instantly started crying at the sight of those two pink lines. Naturally I thought of a cute way to tell my fiancé, so I wrapped the test up and waited until he came home. He was so excited and he was speechless. We had been trying for 15 months and were starting to get disappointed, but we got our Christmas miracle. I was told when I was in my early teen years that it could be hard for me to conceive due to being abused as a child, so I was ecstatic. [Read more…]

My name is Nicki and I am a mommy to a little lady who dances on the other side of eternity. We found out we were pregnant on February 17th, 2011. We had been trying for about 2.5 years and we could not BELIEVE what we were seeing! We were filled to the brim with Joy and Love for the sweet baby we didn’t even know yet! We went through our pregnancy with flying colors, I was healthy and the baby was healthy. All was well in our world. We came to June and we decided to have a gender reveal party; we cut the cake and the inside color told us what my belly held inside. [Read more…]

Mom to a little one

Lost to ectopic pregnancy October 2008

Akron, Ohio

At nineteen years old I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was told many different things from many different doctors, ranging from, “You will never be able to have children,” to “The only way I tell someone they will never have children is if they do not have a uterus.” December 25, 2007, at the age of 33, I found out I was pregnant (exactly 17 weeks 4 days…yes I missed my entire first trimester!). I had defied the odds that were against me…this was a miracle!! At this point I was single, finishing grad school and a full time teacher. May 29, 2008, Jacob came into this world and today he is a healthy, happy, intelligent light in my world!!

Mom to Silas Hunter

July 23, 2011 – August 1, 2011

Newark, Ohio

I started having Braxton Hicks at around 19 weeks. Nothing to be worried about, except once after we moved. I was having them for a good 45 minutes about every 4-5 minutes. I called my doctor and we stopped them. About 2 weeks later (maybe sooner, it’s all been a rush), I woke up about 6:15am with Braxton Hicks…the ones I had gone to bed with.  But then I started getting pains..”Oh crap, I’m constipated.” These pains, oh my goodness, they kept getting worse. I went downstairs and tried to walk around, drink water, and I laid down. Boyfriend was upstairs in bed still, it was a Saturday. About 11 or so, I woke him up because I couldn’t take it anymore. I called Labor & Delivery and they told me to get some Milk of Magnesia. My boyfriend ran to the store and got it, came back a half hour or so later, but it wasn’t working and the pain was getting worse. [Read more…]

April of 2011, was so busy for me. I was in school full time, just started a new job, my husband was working and my oldest son was just finishing up preschool. I always joked that my youngest son, Tyler, was just along for the ride. Tyler had just turned four on the 17th.
