I always told everyone that my baby had a large butt, because I always felt my baby’s bottom moving up high into the middle of my chest. I am the face of neonatal death. In November of 2003, we learned Isaac Joseph was on the way. We were so excited.  This was our second child and we couldn’t feel more blessed. My soon to be husband and I were so happy when we found out we were expecting a little bundle of joy! Unexpected.. VERY but that didn’t make us any less excited to become parents. We were so excited when we finally found out that our little bean was a very healthy baby girl! Words cannot express how you feel when they type out those three little words on a monitor “It’s a GIRL!” We right away started to buy everything in pink and purples! I was asked to be at the hospital at 8 a.m. on the morning of July 6, 2011, to be induced. I was only 4 days overdue according to my OB. I had always said I never wanted induction, but as a doctor, I assumed he knew what was best. They started me on Pitocin as soon as I arrived. I was 1 cm dilated, 70% effaced, and the baby was still at -3 position. They inserted a folly catheter to irritate my cervix to try and help me dilate. At 2 p.m., I got up to walk to the bathroom and a rush of water came down my leg. The nurse on duty said it “smelled like amniotic fluid”, and called the Dr. to order my epidural. She also said that thanks to the cath, I was now 3 cm dilated. [Read more...]
