I don’t even know how to start my story…it just brings tears to my eyes, but in a good way. I think it is good to tell my story.

My name is Andrea. This was my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy was great with no complications at all, with a healthy little boy who is turning 7 years old. When I found out I was pregnant with my second, it was around November 2012. I was excited and surprised that I was pregnant. It wasn’t planned, but I had already fallen in love with the little person growing inside of me. Something told me that it was going to be a boy, and before I even knew that I was pregnant I already had his name planned out (since2010). I chose from the Bible Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations,” and I chose Jeremiah. Before his delivery date, my son had everything he could possibly need. We made sure he was registered for the car seat with the highest safety ratings.  We chose organic cotton onesies that were softest to the touch.  We even had the warming machine for the wet wipes.  Sisters were knitting hats, friends were making quilts, and grandmothers were already decorating the nursery in their mind’s eye.  Finally, he had a name.  Believe it or not, it came to me in a dream.  Maybe he told me himself – his name was to be Everett. I woke up early on the morning of February 27, 2009. It was my husband and my first anniversary, and for some reason, although we were not actively trying to become pregnant, I felt compelled to take a pregnancy test even though I wasn’t late yet. I sat there waiting, and honestly terrified. I was 20 years old, and my husband was 19. He had just lost his job, and it was nearly impossible to find work in our area. I pondered what would happen if I was pregnant, and how we could support a child. Finally, I couldn’t take the suspense anymore. I looked and saw two lines. Two. I felt like screaming with happiness, but I just walked into our bedroom where my husband was still sleeping. I woke him up, and told him I had found something important, and handed him the test. I had my first miscarriage in June 2007 at 12 weeks along. I was devastated. I blamed myself because I was diabetic, and my sugars hadn’t been controlled. I just knew it was my fault. My doctor told me it would be fine to try again, that we would just get me on insulin sooner and monitor me closely. I did get pregnant again about 3 or 4 months later. I was having a baby girl. I was told from the time I was a teenager with irregular periods that I may need some help getting pregnant in the future.  I got married when I was 25 and from the first day of our marriage we never did anything to prevent pregnancy as I knew it might take a while.  After a couple of years and several unsuccessful rounds of Clomid, I was sent to a fertility doctor to take more drastic steps. I was diagnosed with PCOS and needed fertility meds to help me ovulate. The first fertility doctor I went to told me that I needed to do invitro fertilization. We did and I did not get pregnant and ended up in the hospital for hyperstimulation.  It was a horrible experience and the doctor was just awful to me. I finally went to another fertility doctor when I was 28 and he told me that he thought IUI and fertility injections would work just fine for me. So we tried IUI with the lowest dose of the meds available and I got pregnant on the first try. However, once I finally got pregnant —-I got really pregnant! My first ultrasound revealed that I was pregnant with triplets. We were so happy, excited, and scared all at the same time. I was sent to a high risk pregnancy doctor and our journey began. I went to my OB on Friday April 15, 2011 because I had been having contractions all night and I was planning on having a c-section on the following Monday.  My due date was April 27th but since I had to have another c-section, we planned it earlier.  My doctor checked me and said “well, congratulations! We will be having a baby today, you are 2 centimeters dilated!”  My entire pregnancy was great, not a whole lot of morning sickness, didn’t gain very much weight, all around healthy baby as far as they could tell, we were excited.   [Read more...]

I am the mother of 3 angels and my last angel died 2 weeks ago.  My story starts 9 years ago when I had my first son Ryan.  When we found out I was pregnant, I was 3 months along and told our family at a restaurant where we had lunch, everyone was ecstatic to hear our news.  I can recall that it was a good pregnancy, no problems and all was going well until 18th April (Good Friday) evening at 11:50pm when I suddenly felt the urge to go to the toilet, which I did and to my horror, saw a thick mucus discharge with blood,  my husband took  me to the Medi-clinic emergency room immediately, where they admitted me as they suspected I was in labour, they put me on the monitor and had a look at my cervix which was not fully dilated yet.  All was going okay during the night and when the OB/GYN came early Saturday morning, she discovered that I was 7 cm dilated and immediately put me on meds to prevent the cervix from dilating further.
