Melissa

Mom to Six Angels

April 1997, December 1997, August 2000, March 2001, November 2001, April 2003

Pennsylvania

My name is Melissa and I have six beautiful angels in Heaven. I never dreamed I would suffer so much heartache. When you suffer a miscarriage during your first pregnancy you hear, “It’s common, try again. It just wasn’t meant to be.” You really don’t think much about it. Yes, it was heartbreaking but knowing it was so common, I still felt positive and hopeful. Then when I got pregnant a second time and miscarried again, we were told we could send it off for testing to see if there was a reason. So we did. When we received the results back, they stressed nothing was definite without further genetic testing; it could have been a fluke so don’t stress.

My first pregnancy, I lost the baby naturally. I started spotting at 8 weeks. When we went to the ER, there was no heartbeat, so I was sent home to let nature takes its course and miscarry. Our second pregnancy, I was 10-11 weeks when we had an ultrasound and saw that the embryo stopped developing at 7 weeks but my body did not miscarry it. So, I was wheeled into the OR for my first D&C. We know from the testing that we lost a little girl. [Read more…]

Mom to Liam James

March 25, 2014 – May 28, 2014

Las Vegas, Nevada

I’ve been with my high school sweetheart since 2005. After many ups and downs of regular life, we decided to get married in 2012. It was a dream come true, but of course we were now ready to take yet another step forward – children.

After suffering a miscarriage in April 2013, we were thrilled to find out that we were again pregnant in July. We were expecting a son April 15, 2014. We couldn’t have been any happier. Our family and friends showered us with gifts, love and support. We spent hours designing and building a nursery and converting our house to welcome out baby boy. Everything throughout the pregnancy was perfect. I had little nausea and fatigue, I worked out lightly throughout the entire pregnancy and made sure to take vitamins and eat well. On March 25th, I began having contractions. I planned on having a natural birth, but Liam had other plans. His heart rate wasn’t as strong as they wanted it to be for any pain medication. After monitoring him for some time he seemed to become distressed and aspirated meconium. It was time for a cesarean.

Mel

Mom to Henry Lefebvre Bonnell

Born and died September 28, 2012

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

We had our first ultrasound on September 19, 2012 – the day we found out that everything was not OK.

While an ultrasound uses sound vibrations to get an image of babies inside their mummies, these sound waves crashed into the depths of our lives and reverberated throughout the universe in a spiral until it came to a deafening halt on September 28. We’re now trying to pick through the rubble and aftershock.

We had no idea anything had been awry during my pregnancy – no false contractions, bleeding, or anything else – just a regular, easy pregnancy to date that brought us a lot of joy.

During our first ultrasound, we were, at first, elated. It was our first time seeing our child. We found him to be the most beautiful little baby, and we were so proud. [Read more…]

Lisa

Mom to Maddox Ford

November 7, 2011 – December 26, 2011

Plainfield, Illinois

I found out I was pregnant with Maddox Ford May 20, 2011. It was a Friday and I was at work. I was so excited about being a mom and my family was, too…finally, grandkids! The first ultrasound and every doctor’s appointment I grew more and more anxious and fell more and more in love with my child I hadn’t even met yet. My pregnancy was easy, no morning sickness, no issues. I was a healthy 26-year old with a whole new world in front of me. I didn’t get any of the genetic tests done, or any of the other tests done, because I was a low risk pregnancy. Once the first trimester passed, I thought like everyone else thinks, I’m in the clear. It never really occurred to me that something might actually happen to my baby. [Read more…]

Ashley

Mom to Teddy
Lost November 25, 2009

and

Minka, lost June 8, 2011

West Deptford, New Jersey

My name is Ashley, I am 26 years old, and I am the mother of two Angel Babies. ♥ ♥

I found out I was pregnant with my first baby on November 4, 2009. Right from the start the doctors told me I was miscarrying, but I still held out hope. They said my baby was low in my uterus. My body was pushing it out. Something about the dates and sizes of my baby didn’t seem to match up at all. I know they say this sometimes happens, but mine were really off. But then at one appointment, the doctors called me an ‘enigma’ because my baby re-implanted itself up higher in my uterus. I heard its heart beating that day ♥ My due date was July 16th, 2010. For my next appointment, my pains were so awful I had them bring me in. The portable ultrasound machine was blurry. They asked me to come back in the morning for another ultrasound on the big machine. I did. My baby’s heart was no longer beating. [Read more…]

Esmeralda (Lala)

Mom to Ezra Alix

Born sleeping December 12, 2011 at 40 weeks 6 days

San Pedro, California

I kind of had a rough pregnancy with Ezra, but he was always “healthy,” and that’s what kept me going.

I started having severe back problems at 21 weeks and was never the same. In fact, it only got worse in the third trimester, until my insurance finally approved me for physical therapy at 36 weeks . It helped, but I still had pain. I also had rib pain and trouble breathing from about 30 weeks due to Costochondritis. But he always had a strong heartbeat and was constantly moving. (Always always on the move and I loved it). [Read more…]

Milagros

Mom to Emmaliese Fuerte

Born December 8, 2011

Died January 15, 2012

Patterson, California

Being pregnant with Emmaliese was wonderful.  No signs of high blood pressure, swelling, or morning sickness, and I actually had just my baby bump, not round all over. I had a very uneventful pregnancy and labor. After nine hours of labor and three pushes, Emmaliese was born at 7:32 am weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches.  [Read more…]

Sharon

Mom to John Thomas Chatham III

Born on March 23, 2009

Became an angel on April 4, 2009

Marietta, Georgia

When I was pregnant, I began to acquire too much fluid in the womb. They were not able to locate all of his heart parts on ultrasound which concerned them that he might have a heart defect. My water ruptured prior to 34 weeks but fully broke at 34 weeks. When he was born he was gray and not breathing due to the CHARGE-associated nasal problem. His heart also had a valve that was twisted. We were expecting at least two surgeries. He had a small penis and malformed ear as well. These are all symptoms that are grouped under CHARGE Syndrome. We waited for over a week for a bed at the local children’s specialized hospital and were very hopeful when he got moved. [Read more…]

Cortney

Mom to Malach

Born and died September 17, 2007

Kalamazoo, Michigan

It all started with a positive pregnancy test as most pregnancies do. I was excited! We weren’t trying, but what are you going to do? I always wanted to be a mom and even though I was only 19 at the time I knew I could do it. My boyfriend was 25 at the time. It was our first child together. Everything about my pregnancy was normal. I got very lucky I didn’t have any morning sickness or any of the bad pregnancy symptoms. [Read more…]

Jessica

Mom to Grace Elizabeth

February 23, 2011

Shelbyville, KY

So this is mine and my husband’s first child. We were so excited to find out that I was pregnant. I found out when I was 18 that I have endometriosis and it would be difficult for me to get pregnant. So at the time I wasn’t seeing anyone seriously and I went on the Depo shot for birth control. Well then I met my husband and a little over a year later we were married and I stopped taking the depo shot that I had been on for a little over 2 yrs. About 6 months into the marriage we were trying to get pregnant but no luck. So we were getting ready to go talk to a doctor after it had been a yr and no luck. Then I found out I was pregnant.

Autumn Cunningham

Mom to Gemma O’neilCunningham

October 21st 2010

San Diego, CA

After our first daughter was born, my husband and I were told we had passed along genetic birth defects. The chance of passing along similar birth defects was a 25% chance. We went into our second pregnancy knowing the chances but not having a full scope of what those genetic defects could be; even the Geneticist was shocked by the outcome. [Read more…]

Sarah
Mom to Noah Robert Wilkerson
June 26th, 2009 – June 30th, 2009
Colorado Springs, Colorado

The story of our family began on my 30th birthday. It was about that time, that after six years of marriage, my husband Chris and I finally began to feel baby fever. We threw a huge birthday party to celebrate this new decade of life for me with all our family and friends. Meanwhile, we secretly celebrated an end to life being only about just the two of us, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter of parenthood. What felt like two seconds later, I was pregnant.
