Mom to Miracle Grace & Liam Omar

August 18, 2008 & July 20, 2013

Lakeland, Florida

When I was 17 years old, I found out I was pregnant. I was terrified, but excited. The entire pregnancy was perfect, resulting in a beautiful healthy little boy. A year and a half later, I found out I was pregnant again. Of course, I thought everything would be just as easy. How naive I was. Less than a week after I’d found out, I started spotting. I went to the ER, where blood work was done (twice, since they lost it!) as well as an emergency ultrasound. After the technician did her measurements, she turned the screen to me and showed me my perfect little bean, with a good strong heartbeat.

Miscarriage #3 August 24, 2012 at 7 weeks 3 days

Rives Junction, Michigan

It was September 7, 2011 and I remember feeling sick, tired, and emotional.  I told my husband I knew I was pregnant, so when I took the test the next morning I was not shocked to see two pink lines staring back at me.  I tested the next several days and watched the line darken, which was very reassuring.  At the time I was 21 years old, a newlywed, and my first pregnancy had gone so smoothly. I was on Cloud 9, and seeing those two beautiful pink lines meant nothing less to me than bringing a baby home from the hospital in eight or nine months. [Read more…]

Baby #5, lost at 6 weeks on February 25, 2012

Fort Worth, Texas

If you would have asked me when I was 20 where I would be in 5 years, the answer would have come out loud and clear: having babies.  There was never a doubt in my mind that my purpose in life was to become a mom and when I met my husband, Gabriel, when I was 24, I knew that that purpose was going to be fulfilled.  I loved my life; I was living in Hawaii, working at Tripler Army Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I had been in the Army for 6 years, and had found exactly who I was.  Meeting Gabe was like the icing on the cake. Once we started dating, we knew that we wanted to have children, which was on the table even before getting married was. Luckily for us, 8 months later we found out we were pregnant.  I was back in Texas when I found out the news. I called Gabe, who was still in Hawaii, and told him, “You are going to be a daddy!”  We were both so incredibly excited!  We were getting married in just over a month, so it was perfect.  I couldn’t believe what the doctor was telling me, so I went home and took at least 10-15more pregnancy tests; all of them were a clear positive! Life was good. We immediately told everyone, Facebook and all.  I would sit there drawing hearts on my tummy, with a smile on my face.  Each week I would write a quick update on what went on that week and how I was feeling; all the excitement that was building. Mom to Angel “SweetPea”

December 18, 2008

Williamson, New York

Well, in September 2008 my hubs and I decided to TTC baby #4. I usually get pregnant very quickly but we didn’t get a BFP until December 4, 2008, when I realized I was 4 days late.

We told everyone because I had 3 normal healthy pregnancies with our other 3 sons and didn’t think this pregnancy would be any different. [Read more…]

Mom to a baby lost January 20, 2012
(EDD September 7, 2012)

My husband and I had been trying for six months to get pregnant. I couldn’t believe it when I (finally) got a positive pregnancy test! I took eight tests to make sure. We were so excited! We’d been together nine years, married for one year, and were ready to start our family. We kept the news to ourselves for two weeks told our immediate family about the pregnancy at six weeks. We wanted to wait until the start of the second trimester to tell everyone else. [Read more…]

Natural miscarriage 7 weeks 5 days on October 13, 2011
(EDD May 28, 2012)

Misoprostal-assisted miscarriage 9 weeks 3 day on January 16, 2012
(EDD August 17, 2012)

Washington, Illinois

My husband and I were married in January 2009. He came with three children from previous relationships and we had planned on having one of our own and working on that within the first year of marriage. Because of some things going on in my life at that time, we pushed it back a couple of years and in November 2010, I went off the pill and we were just going to stop preventing to see what happened. By August of 2011, nothing had happened, so we tried OPKs and got our first positive pregnancy test on September 15. We were elated. Our EDD was 5/28/12, which we thought would be perfect. The baby would be here before summer got too hot and it would be nice enough that birthday parties could be held outside, etc. On October 4, at 6 weeks, 2 days, we had our first prenatal appointment and all we could see on the ultrasound was a gestational sac and yolk sac measuring less than five weeks. They took a beta draw which confirmed the pregnancy was not viable. I was given the choice of having a D&C, taking Cytotec/Misoprostol, or waiting for a natural miscarriage. I chose to wait and see and within a few days I began spotting. The spotting was very off and on for about five days. Once things really started happening, it lasted 14 hours and was over. Our first angel left us on 10/13/11 when it should have been 7w5d. [Read more…]

My husband and I are high school sweethearts!! We’ll celebrate 9 years this May. I’m grateful to have him as my Rock. I suffer from Stage IV Endometriosis, and I have also have been diagnosed with recurrent miscarriages. It has been a very turbulent ride, but I like to think that we have been made stronger by each experience. It sounds cheesy, but sometimes it’s all you can say to get through the difficult times. Early miscarriage, August 2006

Ectopic pregnancy, November  2011

Corona, California

I am a mother, but my two babies are in Heaven with Jesus. I am the face of ectopic pregnancy loss and early miscarriage.

My husband and I eloped to Las Vegas in July of 2006 after only dating for one month. In August, we found out that I was pregnant. That was a shocker. We weren’t ready, I wasn’t done with nursing school, we both didn’t have jobs to support a baby (much less ourselves) and quite frankly, we weren’t done growing up. But after the initial shock, we were excited…excited to welcome this baby into the world with loving arms…excited to embark on this unpredictable new journey. That excitement was short lived when I began bleeding while I was at work one day. We went to the doctor the same day and they told me that I was miscarrying. How can you describe the pain of losing a baby? My sorrow was brief because everyone around me seemed to get over it just fine, so I felt like I needed to as well. [Read more…]

Ectopic pregnancy

July 29, 2011

Stafford, Virginia

My husband and I hadn’t planned on having a baby for a few years, since were both still young and starting out our marriage. On July 21st, I went to my physician to get my hypothyroidism checked out like I do every 6 weeks, and while I was there I had asked the physician randomly about how my thyroid disease would affect my fertility. She had said, “You will have a hard time getting pregnant, if it even happens at all.” After this I had just given up hope of ever having a child, even though it’s all I had ever wanted. My amazing husband and I got married on March 17, 2007. We knew we wanted to expand our family right away. We put it in God’s hands and didn’t really worry too much. Three months into our marriage we get the best news: we’re expecting already. I never would have dreamed that it would have happened that quickly. I made my appointment to confirm the home pregnancy test, and of course it was also positive. I was 6 weeks! My first nurse appointment was made for 3 weeks later. [Read more…]

August 3rd, 2011

Addison, Texas

I married the love of my life on May 18th 2007. From the first day I met him I know I was going to marry him. We married young– me being 19 and him 21. We knew we wanted kids and in Feb of 2008 we decided to start trying.  After many months and negative pregnancy tests, because of course every month I thought I was pregnant… we started to get concerned.  After a year of TTC and nothing went to see my OB/GYN and May of 2009 was diagnosed with PCOS ( polycystic ovarian syndrome)  Instead of taking Metformin we decided to try the natural way first. I’m not a huge fan of perscription drugs. [Read more…]

Mom to Alexander Michael

2nd trimester angel, born June 30, 2011 due to Incompetent cervix

and 10 early losses July 2004-Sept 2007

Calgary, Alberta Canada

My journey to become a mother started in July 2004. My boyfriend (now husband) and I discovered we were pregnant, I had just turned 20. The timing was not perfect and there were so many things going on between us in our relationship that we were not sure where this was headed, but we were excited. I had had a previous child in 2002 and had given him up for adoption, and since that day I had always felt I was missing that part of me that yearned to be a mother. I don’t regret placing my first child for adoption, I know I wasn’t ready and neither was the babies father, and the family I placed him with were very loving, and experienced a lot of loss on their journey. I found out that I was pregnant on June 11th. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw those two little pink lines appear on the hpt I had taken. I took 7 more tests just to make sure and they were all positive. When it finally sunk it I just burst into tears of joy… I was pregnant! There is nothing more that I wanted in the world than to be a mom. I was actually supposed to start fertility treatments at the end of the month. [Read more…]

I always knew I wanted children, but I didn’t seriously think about it until I got married to my high school sweetheart in June 2006, at age 20. Then suddenly it was like a lightbulb went on and I knew that I just wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I knew it was best for me to finish college first, but it was a big struggle for me to have to wait awhile to try to have a baby. By early 2007 we had stopped using any contraception, and in June 2007 I found out that I was pregnant. [Read more…]

I guess my story begins in 1999 when I was only 21. I had an unexpected pregnancy, which resulted in an early miscarriage at only 7 weeks.  I was shocked by how much I mourned that baby.  For weeks I would cry in the bathroom or in bed at night.  I think it was around 6 months before I really moved on. People expect parents to quickly resolve the grief of a miscarriage. It’s as if since they didn’t know the child’s name, or it had not yet been named, or the pregnancy didn’t yet “show,” our loss is somehow not as devastating. People often remark to us, “At least you didn’t know him/her,” “You can always have another one,” or “Probably it would have had a defect.”
