Second pregnancy lost at 16.5 weeks
Third pregnancy lost at 6 weeks
Fourth & Fifth pregnancies lost at 8 weeks

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

My story, copied from my first blog post:

Med school in our early twenties.

Met shortly after that. Well, his last year and my first in Residency. On a medical mission trip in Costa Rica. Yeah, that’s how God started our life together… years with only a couple hundred miles apart but we had to meet a few thousand miles away.

First kid born full term, we were both 30; he was conceived after two months of “trying.” We’re thankful for fertility.

Human life is a blessing. We learned that in church (Catholic grade school for me, Sunday-school for him) and then again in medical school. When I dissected the hand in Anatomy, I really knew it. Only a divine creator could fathom something so intricately beautiful. And then on those ultrasounds, I really knew it. Finally, when you hold a perfect creation in your arms, it is true. What a gift.

About nine months later, we were pregnant for the second time. Miscarried at 16.5 week, baby number 2 had Trisomy 18. A blessing in disguise, they said. Better to lose her now, than later.

Mom to Jaycee Elaine

December 26, 2012

Cleveland, Mississippi

I lost my sweet Jaycee Elaine at 6 weeks gestation due to the start of birth control before I knew I was pregnant. During this time, my fiance and I broke up and he moved out. On December 26, 2012 I went to the bathroom like normal. When I wiped, there was what resembled a tadpole on the toilet paper. I immediately went to the doctor and it was confirmed that I had a miscarriage. I don’t know why, but I’m positive that my little tadpole was a girl. So, I named her Jaycee Elaine for so many reasons. Jaycee means moon and Elaine means sun. That way, I know she’s always looking down on her mommy day and night. I also tell everyone that “I love them to the moon and back.” Elaine is also my cousin’s middle name. Rest in peace, sweet baby. I’ll see you again someday.

Mom to two Angels

September 16, 2010 and May 10, 2013

Belfast, Northern Ireland

On September 16th 2010, I had an ectopic pregnancy. I was having extremely sharp pain in my left side of my stomach and didn’t know I was pregnant and didn’t suspect it either. My boyfriend insisted I go to A&E to get it checked out. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and I didn’t get a scan unto 2 a.m. It was then confirmed that I was having an ectopic pregnancy. I was only 16 at the time and I didn’t have a clue at all what was going on, how to feel or how to react.

I am 21 years old and I have endometriosis. I have to take fertility medicine if I want to have kids. We decided we were ready, so I took it [medicines] and I took three pregnancy tests the next month before I made my doctor’s appointment. We were so excited. We were ready for our lives to change forever. I went to the doctor’s and he told me I was 4 weeks and 5 days, but to be careful because it would possibly be a tubal pregnancy.

Miscarried her first baby

March 18, 2013

Ardmore, Oklahoma

My husband and I married in December of 2012 with intentions of trying to get pregnant right away.  After a couple months of trying, I got a faint pink line of an in-home pregnancy test.  I was thrilled but still not 100% sure I was pregnant.  I waited until the next day and took another test with the same result.  Just to be sure, I purchased a digital test and it said PREGNANT!  I was ecstatic!  I cried and thanked God over and over again and I told God that I would thank him everyday of my pregnancy, which I did.  I have wanted to be a mom for so long. My dream was coming true.  I went out and bought a baby balloon and a chalkboard to write “We are Pregnant” on and I made my husband his favorite red velvet cupcakes.  I set it all up and when he came home, he was over-the-moon excited!  It was one of the best moments of my life. Boonville, North Carolina

As long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a mother. When my husband and I got married, we knew we didn’t want to wait long for kids. We decided to wait a year, but were OK with it happening before that. Once we decided to “officially” try for a baby, we were excited, hoping it would happen quickly for us. When it didn’t happen several months later, we began trying different supplements, etc. and grew more and more discouraged. [Read more…]

Jillian

Mom to Avalon

Lost May 29, 2010

Antelope, California

After having my daughter, I spent a few years trying to figure out the health problems that I was having. When we finally felt comfortable to try again for another little one, it took over a year to get pregnant. Thirteen long months. I was so relieved and excited when I felt off one morning, and had a positive pregnancy test later that day. The next day, I found out that my husband had been laid off. I felt sick. How were we going to afford this baby?  Otherwise, things were going well.  I felt “pregnant”. I hadn’t thrown up, but my stomach wouldn’t settle. I had told my daughter, and my mother. I started feeling like nesting, and was knitting little baby hats in neutral colors.  I had scheduled my first OB appointment. [Read more…]

Madilyn Jo, miscarried in 2012 at 10 weeks

Olathe, Kansas

In June 2011, we found out I was pregnant. I had an array of mixed emotions. We had a full apartment with my 2 kids, ages 12 and 14 at the time, we had just had a baby in December 2010, and my fiancé’s daughter was living with us, who was pregnant and due in October. Being I just had a baby in December and was still breastfeeding, I hadn’t had a menstrual cycle yet, so my doctor wanted an ultrasound to see how far along I was and to find my due date. We had our first ultrasound and all those mixed emotions went away…there was our baby-to-be, right there on the screen. At that point, I knew we’d be ok; everything would work out. The technician put me about 4 weeks gestation, and really too soon to confirm a due date, so my doctor ordered another ultrasound for two weeks out to look for growth and an approximate due date then. We left and became so excited about our news, and immedately started telling family and friends. [Read more…]

My husband and I decided that after 2 little girls, we were ready for a little boy. We started trying when our youngest was 5 months old, fully aware just how close our children would be if we conceived immediately, but also realizing that it took 6 months of trying to conceive our second, so the actual possibility of it happening seemed slim to none. People told us we were crazy for wanting our children so close together, but we LOVED the fact that our daughters were 19 months apart. Those two little girls had an amazing relationship and were as close as can be, and we were hoping the same for future children. So, we began trying to conceive again. [Read more…]

In February I had run out of birth control. After a period didn’t start I took several pregnancy tests before starting a new pack. I kept getting negatives. Well, once my period was over a week late I went and saw my doctor to have her test. I didn’t want to start a new pack of birth control without making sure I wasn’t pregnant. After doing a blood draw and waiting for what felt like forever, my doctor called me in. She showed me the screen, and sure enough I was pregnant. My hCG numbers were extremely low, so she asked me to come back in 2 days for a redraw to make sure they were going up. While it wasn’t a planned pregnancy, I was so excited! Two days later I went back in and my numbers had tripled. I drove home that day feeling so blessed and an overwhelming amount of love for my husband and 9-month old son. We took no time announcing our pregnancy to family. [Read more…]

I always told my friends the only thing I wanted in life was to be a mom. In fact, my biggest fear was that I wouldn’t be able to have children. I am a worrier by nature. Well, that might be the understatement of the year. I would just ATTEND a party and I spent the whole time wondering if everyone was having a good time and making sure they have everything they need. When I hear police sirens near my house, I call my husband obsessively if he doesn’t answer to make sure he is not dead. [Read more…]

Mom to Baby July

Lost July 5, 2012 at 6w5d gestation

Albion, Michigan

After giving birth to a beautiful baby boy in September 2010, come April 2011, I was ready for another baby. My husband was not on board whatsoever at that point. We finally sat down and discussed a good time line to begin trying to conceive again. We both decided that April 2012 would be the perfect time to start adding to our family. So in the middle of April, my birth control was finished and it was time to start trying for another baby! It was a long and agonizing year of waiting to try to conceive. But it was finally here and we were both more ready than ever! After 2 cycles of trying, we got our first positive test on June 13, 2012 at 3w4d pregnant. I was so ecstatic! I waited to tell my husband because I wanted to make it a special Father’s Day for him. But…the excitement took over and I suspected that my husband sort of knew already with my happier mood! So the next day, I decided to give him his Father’s Day card a few days early and in it…a positive digital pregnancy test with the word “PREGNANT” plain as day across the screen! We were just so excited and happy. Even our son, who was only about 20 months at the time, seemed to be super excited, even though he hadn’t a clue what was going on. [Read more…]

From Rebecca’s blog post: 2011…the year that, well, sucked:

It seems as though the best place to start is to get all of the terrible, awful stuff that happened last year out on the table, so you know what you’re getting into.  It gives you some perspective as to where I’m coming from.  Don’t get me wrong, my life is definitely not crap.  I have a wonderful husband, let’s call him G, and he’s my soul mate and my strength.  Not to mention the love of my life :). We have a little boy, Xavier, who is known by many nicknames, including ‘X’, ‘Xav’, ‘Xavi’ and ‘Trouble’.  He took a bit of work to get, 2 years of TTC and 6 months of the fertility drug, Clomid, before we fell pregnant with him.  Xavier is now 5, and about to start school.  We have a great extended family; G’s parents and my dad and his partner all live nearby, along with a couple of our siblings.  Everyone else lives near enough that we see them often and we have an array of nieces and nephews (even a grand niece!) who Xav loves playing with.  We have great friends and workmates, who are a big support to us and lots of fun to hang out with!  Baby #5, lost at 6 weeks on February 25, 2012

Fort Worth, Texas

If you would have asked me when I was 20 where I would be in 5 years, the answer would have come out loud and clear: having babies.  There was never a doubt in my mind that my purpose in life was to become a mom and when I met my husband, Gabriel, when I was 24, I knew that that purpose was going to be fulfilled.  I loved my life; I was living in Hawaii, working at Tripler Army Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I had been in the Army for 6 years, and had found exactly who I was.  Meeting Gabe was like the icing on the cake. Once we started dating, we knew that we wanted to have children, which was on the table even before getting married was. Luckily for us, 8 months later we found out we were pregnant.  I was back in Texas when I found out the news. I called Gabe, who was still in Hawaii, and told him, “You are going to be a daddy!”  We were both so incredibly excited!  We were getting married in just over a month, so it was perfect.  I couldn’t believe what the doctor was telling me, so I went home and took at least 10-15more pregnancy tests; all of them were a clear positive! Life was good. We immediately told everyone, Facebook and all.  I would sit there drawing hearts on my tummy, with a smile on my face.  Each week I would write a quick update on what went on that week and how I was feeling; all the excitement that was building. Minka, lost June 8, 2011

West Deptford, New Jersey

My name is Ashley, I am 26 years old, and I am the mother of two Angel Babies. ♥ ♥

I found out I was pregnant with my first baby on November 4, 2009. Right from the start the doctors told me I was miscarrying, but I still held out hope. They said my baby was low in my uterus. My body was pushing it out. Something about the dates and sizes of my baby didn’t seem to match up at all. I know they say this sometimes happens, but mine were really off. But then at one appointment, the doctors called me an ‘enigma’ because my baby re-implanted itself up higher in my uterus. I heard its heart beating that day ♥ My due date was July 16th, 2010. For my next appointment, my pains were so awful I had them bring me in. The portable ultrasound machine was blurry. They asked me to come back in the morning for another ultrasound on the big machine. I did. My baby’s heart was no longer beating. [Read more…]

When I had my third child, I had only been not-pregnant for 16 months before getting pregnant with her. Unfortunately, in our humanness, we are broken people, and I was pretty resistant to having a baby so soon after having my second child. Her pregnancy was not a pleasant one, and neither was my attitude towards it. When she arrived though, and spent 7 days in the NICU, my attitude changed drastically. This sets the premise for the story of my first miscarriage. [Read more…]
