Stacy

Mom to Mattingly Lynn

Died October 2, 2009

Kansas City, Missouri

I found out very early that I was pregnant, about 4 weeks. I just woke up one morning and had a feeling; took a test and it was positive!  My husband was scared to death when I told him, but we both started planning about the nugget growing inside of me. I had to scare my husband even more by telling him all the jokes I’d made in the past about having two little blonde girls, was more than a dream of mine – my father was a twin as well as my maternal grandfather. We had a high chance of multiples. [Read more…]

Susan

Mom to Hayden Michael

Born and died February 28, 2012

Gilbert, Arizona

I found out I was pregnant the week before Halloween. I was 18 years old, and absolutely terrified. I’d been feeling strange for a week or so, and just had this feeling that I was pregnant. I took the test and was so scared when it came out positive; all I could do was stare at the test and mutter, “Oh. My. Gosh,” over and over. But during my pregnancy, I would look at my stomach and marvel that there was a life, a baby, a precious being that was mine inside my belly. My boyfriend and I fought for months over my decision to A) not abort the baby, and B) place the baby for adoption. He was of the mindset that we weren’t ready for a baby, but if I WAS going to have the baby, he didn’t want his kid to be raised by strangers. I was determined to place for adoption, and to find my baby amazing, loving, and prepared parents who were unable to have children of their own. I am not trying to glorify myself or sound self-sacrificing: I had been careless and irresponsible in his conceiving, but I was going to give my baby the best life I could – better than I could give him. I knew adoption was the right choice. [Read more…]

Minka, lost June 8, 2011

West Deptford, New Jersey

My name is Ashley, I am 26 years old, and I am the mother of two Angel Babies. ♥ ♥

I found out I was pregnant with my first baby on November 4, 2009. Right from the start the doctors told me I was miscarrying, but I still held out hope. They said my baby was low in my uterus. My body was pushing it out. Something about the dates and sizes of my baby didn’t seem to match up at all. I know they say this sometimes happens, but mine were really off. But then at one appointment, the doctors called me an ‘enigma’ because my baby re-implanted itself up higher in my uterus. I heard its heart beating that day ♥ My due date was July 16th, 2010. For my next appointment, my pains were so awful I had them bring me in. The portable ultrasound machine was blurry. They asked me to come back in the morning for another ultrasound on the big machine. I did. My baby’s heart was no longer beating. [Read more…]

Mom to John Thomas Chatham III

Born on March 23, 2009

Became an angel on April 4, 2009

Marietta, Georgia

When I was pregnant, I began to acquire too much fluid in the womb. They were not able to locate all of his heart parts on ultrasound which concerned them that he might have a heart defect. My water ruptured prior to 34 weeks but fully broke at 34 weeks. When he was born he was gray and not breathing due to the CHARGE-associated nasal problem. His heart also had a valve that was twisted. We were expecting at least two surgeries. He had a small penis and malformed ear as well. These are all symptoms that are grouped under CHARGE Syndrome. We waited for over a week for a bed at the local children’s specialized hospital and were very hopeful when he got moved. [Read more…]

Jacob’s Story

Life has been really tough on me and my fiancé the past four years. In February of 2009, we found out that we were indeed expecting a little boy. We were ecstatic! We picked out a name, Jacob Michael Jones (Michael was his father’s first name)

In March, I started bleeding on the 7th, and by the next morning I woke up to blood all over the bed, and down my legs. We made it to the hospital around noon finally (it was snowing pretty hard) and they rushed me to the ER, where they did a vaginal exam and said that my cervix was dilating and they could see the membranes pushing through. Neither of us really knew what to think, it was all so surreal, and I couldn’t think about anything else besides little Jacob suffering inside me. They took me to ultrasound and again confirmed that it was a little boy and we were 19 weeks and 2 days. [Read more…]

Kellie

Mom to Andrew Noah, Benjamin Levi, and Caleb Thomas

Born and died December 30, 2009

Bakersfield, California

We had fought for so long for those babies. Years of infertility. IVF worked almost too well. I ended up with triplets! I was so sick even from the beginning. From ten weeks on I had the worst morning sickness. Nothing stayed down very well.

On December 23rd, 2009, when I was about 16 weeks pregnant, I went on home IV hydration since I had been puking up everything in sight. That night, I managed to clot up my IV and had to go in the next day to get a new one placed. The next morning my head was killing me with a hideous headache that wouldn’t respond to anything. Mom to Brayden Nicholas, died on May 23rd, 2009 at 8 weeks
and
Angel Christopher, died on March 17th, 2011 at 5 weeks

Eastern Pennsylvania

When I was15 years old I found out I was pregnant with my ex. He was 17 at the time. Ninth grade was coming to an end. It was the middle of May when I told my boyfriend. He was more than ecstatic. He was beyond elated with happiness. He had always wanted a family. A few days after I told him, I got up and got ready for school like any normal day. History class was my first class of the day. There was a guy in that class that constantly fought with me. Sometimes physical, sometimes not. Well, he decided to pick a fight with me that day and punched me directly in the stomach. I remember the pop feeling and the pain. I went home early due to INSANELY HORRIBLE cramps and miscarried around eight weeks. It was May 23rd, 2009. I know I was nowhere near finding out the sex but I knew in my heart and soul that it was a baby boy. My mom or family still to this day doesn’t know about the miscarriage. It just would cause more problems that aren’t needed. [Read more…]

Tristan

Mom to Gabriel

October 8, 2009 – November 5, 2009

Rockford, Michigan

I woke up early on the morning of February 27, 2009. It was my husband and my first anniversary, and for some reason, although we were not actively trying to become pregnant, I felt compelled to take a pregnancy test even though I wasn’t late yet. I sat there waiting, and honestly terrified. I was 20 years old, and my husband was 19. He had just lost his job, and it was nearly impossible to find work in our area. I pondered what would happen if I was pregnant, and how we could support a child. Finally, I couldn’t take the suspense anymore. I looked and saw two lines. Two. I felt like screaming with happiness, but I just walked into our bedroom where my husband was still sleeping. I woke him up, and told him I had found something important, and handed him the test. He didn’t trust the test, so we went to the local grocery store, and bought a digital test. Almost immediately “pregnant” popped up. We couldn’t have been happier. [Read more…]

and miscarriages in 2008 and 2010

Springfield, Missouri

I had my first miscarriage in June 2007 at 12 weeks along. I was devastated. I blamed myself because I was diabetic, and my sugars hadn’t been controlled. I just knew it was my fault. My doctor told me it would be fine to try again, that we would just get me on insulin sooner and monitor me closely. I did get pregnant again about 3 or 4 months later. I was having a baby girl. Mom to Lily Natalie Anne, miscarried at 10 weeks August 10th, 2006

and “Little Speck”, miscarried at 6 weeks October 13, 2009

Australia

Lily Natalie’s story:

Ever since I knew the meaning of being a mother, I knew that was what I wanted to be. Even my chosen career path as a teacher involves me utilising my maternal feelings in guiding students through their education. As cousins, friends’ babies and other family members were born, I knew that, even at the age of 11, the feeling of a newborn baby in my arms was just…right. I dreamed, imagined, visualised myself holding a baby, mothering a baby, raising a tiny life. [Read more…]

Mommy to Elijah Thomas

Born May 7th, 2009 at 10:13am
Received his angel wings at 11:11am May 7th, 2009

Where should I start? Well I’ll start from the beginning. I went to a routine appointment at 30weeks and the doctor saw that my son seemed to have a cleft lip. The next day I was sent to the hospital to get some more advance ultrasounds. The tech took about an hour and a half and at the end told me to so see my OB/GYN. I went to my doctor’s office and he very calmly told me that my son had some other abnormalities and I needed to go see a perinatologist. I went to get my referral for the perinatologist and had that appointment on a monday. At this time my husband was deployed and I had to call the Red Cross to get him back home before my perinatologist appointment since I had already got bad news that something was wrong with my son’s brain. Monica

Mom to Olivia (7 years) and Marlo

Born still January 15th, 2009

My name is Monica Wilson, I am the mother to Olivia, 7 years, and Marlo, who was born still on January 15th, 2009. Here is my story:
I had a very uncomfortable pregnancy: nothing bad, no morning sickness, or anything terrible, it was just very uncomfortable. I was HUGE. I have never been a believer in inducing. In my mind, your body and baby knows when it is time to come, so that wasn’t really an option for me until I was 38 and a half weeks along, my ever growing belly was just more than I could handle and we knew that this was going to be a big baby. I have never had regular periods, so we could only guess how far along I was by  the measurements in the ultrasounds. My first child Olivia was 6lbs 13oz’s so I was not ready for a 9lb child, but I was going to have one anyway. At my 38 week visit my Doctor asked if I wanted to be induced and all I could think was, “Yes, please!!” That was a Monday and we scheduled an induction for the following Monday. On that Wednesday, I thought I was going into labor. I left work, called my husband and told him to get home, that this was it, it was time. [Read more…]

Dawn

Mom to William George

April 1st, 2009

Alpina, MI

William would have been a week old on April 8, 2009, if he’d been alive the day I pushed him into the world. My due date. We’d been anticipating that date for nine months. He lived inside of me for three-quarters of a year. I held him in my womb for three seasons. Spring seems like such a perfect time for birth, when everything is coming alive. Now, for me, everything feels dead, and my baby is dead, and the last thing I want to do is watch the world come to life again.
