10-21-2013. That day is forever changed in my mind. It’s the day I had to say hello and goodbye at the same time. My husband and I went in to the hospital because I didn’t feel our sweet baby move for the past two days. In my mind I knew something was terribly wrong because our little girl was normally very active and moved all the time. I even remember telling my husband Matt just prepare yourself for the worst because it’s not going to be good. [Read more…]

Mom to Malcolm Hunter

Atlanta, GA
Malcolm was our first child – we got pregnant on the first try and we had a very healthy, normal pregnancy. Aside from the few weeks that he was breech, Malcolm did not give us any trouble at all. My body, thankfully, returned the favor. Toward the end of my pregnancy, my doctor was concerned that my blood pressure was too high, so we were scheduled for an induction. [Read more…]

My life changed forever the moment I saw those two pink lines. My life changed forever again 7 weeks later when we found out that our first child had no heartbeat. I can honestly say that it was the worst day of my life so far. I hope that sharing my story can give people an honest look into miscarriage and can help someone else who is going through their own loss. [Read more…]

Emma Kate is our first child. We were so unaware, joking around about guessing the gender as we went into our 1st trimester screening. We learned that day that something was very wrong and went straight to another specialist to have a CVS Test performed. We quickly learned that our precious girl had Turner Syndrome, a chromosomal condition that is not hereditary. Her DNA was just missing a puzzle piece. [Read more…]

My husband(34) and I(32) will be married for 10 years on April 17, 2014. The following month(May) we will also approach the 10th year of trying to conceive our first child.
My story and our journey through losses starts back when I was diagnosed with PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome at the age of 14. When diagnosed, I was told that it would be difficult if not completely impossible for me to have children. It scared me to death because I have always wanted to be a mother and always thought I would have a big family. [Read more…]

The 2013 Holiday season was nothing like we were expecting and was not full of joy and happiness like it should be. It was the day before Thanksgiving and we had our routine ultra sound with the Maternal Fetal Medicine doctors. We were pregnant with identical twin boys and we got to see them every other week in an ultra sound. When we first found out we were having identical twins, we got referred to the MFM doctors to monitor my pregnancy for Twin Twin Transfusion Syndrome. This is where a connection in the shared placenta is distributing nutrients unevenly and one baby gets bigger than the other one. [Read more…]

My husband, Jack, was traveling the day my dear sister-in-law, Semmelle, and I excitedly walked into my OB’s office for my 36 week appointment. She had never been to an ultra sound before, and I was so excited to show her a sneak peak of her new nephew. I met her at my mother’s that afternoon, where relatives were still visiting after throwing me a beautiful baby shower that weekend before. My cousins and I had stayed up until late the night of the shower unpacking gifts, laundering tiny clothes, and decorating the nursery while we ate chocolate cake, giggling like little girls. Caleb was the first grandchild in both Jack’s and my side. After years of my fighting an extreme case of bipolar disorder and wondering if I would ever be well enough to bear my own children, we felt the world was celebrating with us as we prepared to welcome our victory child.
