Lost May 18, 2012

Lake Elsinore, California

I am a mother of 7 beautiful children, and to my husband and I that was a blessing. In 2007, I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis. After lots of tests, my doctors confirmed that my chances of having another child was 1 in a million. I was grateful for my precious seven and thought nothing of it at the time. I was going through very painful episodes monthly due to endo problems and talked about an ablation. My doctor said, “Let’s set it up.” I got sick and had to cancel the surgery. Thank God, because the next week I found out I was pregnant. I cannot tell you the mixed emotions I had hearing the doctor say, “You are pregnant.” I thought, “You must have made a mistake, I can’t get pregnant.” He looked at me and said, “I promise you are.” I cried so hard, so scared and confused. I thought this is a gift from God and I am blessed. When my husband and I went to our ultrasound, they could not find the baby, so they said, “We think that you might miscarry.” Devastated, we walked out in tears, but prayed for a miracle. We went back one week later, and sure enough, there he was, with a strong heartbeat. We both cried, thanking God. [Read more...]

I remember the day I found out I was pregnant like it was yesterday. It was Friday, September 16th, my parents’ anniversary and I had made myself a doctor’s appointment that afternoon because I hadn’t been able to keep anything in my system. I remember trying to figure out what could be making me so sick, and I finally narrowed it down and thought it was dairy products. Boy, was I wrong! I went to the doctor, told her everything that was going on and she said, “Well, Ashley, I think you actually might be pregnant.” My response of course was, “No way, if I was pregnant I think I would know.” My appointment ended with me going for blood work the following Monday but there was no way on earth I could wait that long. I went home and got a home pregnancy test and there it was: a big, bright plus sign. I was pregnant! My boyfriend, Mark, wasn’t home, so, not thinking, I immediately picked up the phone and called him at work. Our conversation went exactly like this : [Read more...]

 Jaxon Gray,
Born still on June 28, 2012 at 20 weeks

Dayton, Ohio

On March 27th, a week after our son turned 5, we found out we were expecting. We were so happy! We had been trying for 2 years. Our son had been asking for a sibling for awhile, so we were so happy that we could finally give him one! At 7 weeks we had an ultrasound to check for a healthy baby and get an exact due date since we had no idea when we conceived. Well, were we really surprised when we saw 2 little peanuts and 2 little fluttering hearts! Never did we ever expect to naturally get pregnant with twins! And identical twins at that! Baby B was a little smaller but looked good and had a strong heartbeat. I had never been so tired in my life; these little babies were taking everything from me! By 10 weeks I had lost almost 15 pounds! [Read more...]

Stillborn December 2, 2000

Houston, Texas

A week and a half before my due date I am getting excited that I am about to bring my firstborn child into the world.  The only thing on my mind is making sure everything is in place so that when he comes I will not have to worry about buying anything else.  I just had a baby shower at work a week or two before so everything was really coming together.  It is Monday morning and I am scheduled for a routine weekly prenatal checkup.  Everything looked good even though it took the doctor a couple of minutes to find the heartbeat I then mention that the baby did not move as often as he used to.  The doctor did not say anything about it; he just kept looking for his heartbeat and he finally found it.  [Read more...]

Mom to Rory Marshall Richardson

January 28, 2012 – February 20, 2012

Leeds, England

At 19 I found out I was pregnant, our little serendipity – happy surprise. On the 6th September we found out we were having a baby boy and the first name was decided in an instant. Rory has been my favourite name for years; when I was little it reminded me of lions, and Daddy loved the name, too, luckily.  The middle name was decided when my Dad fell critically ill with cancer. One day in the hospice he said to me, “Alice, don’t you dare name that little boy after me. I don’t want that and I’ve always hated my name anyway.” I didn’t name him after my Dad’s first name; I choose my Dad’s family name that he gave me as Rory’s middle name. A few days before my Dad died, I told him that my baby’s name would be Rory Marshall Richardson. Only Rory’s dad, my Dad and I knew Rory’s name before he was born. Rory was like a little light at the end of a tunnel, not just for me and Nathan, but for my whole family. It was something to look forward to after the loss of someone so important. My 13-year old sister was overjoyed, more than what was normal. We needed Rory. [Read more...]

Baby lost November 3, 2011 at 12 weeks

Portland, Oregon

We had waited years before trying. We wanted to be as “ready” as two people can be. We had been together 8 years and married 4, graduated college, got dogs and had bought a house when we got pregnant with our baby son Westley. We decided early on to name him in part after the character in The Princess Bride…we wanted to give all our love and attention in hopes that are son would be honest, brave, and loving and share in our happiness. Baby #4 – lost July 2012

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

My husband and I got married in July 2008 and didn’t think we were quite ready yet to start trying for kids. We started trying to conceive and got frustrated because we were not getting pregnant right away. I bought an ovulation kit and the 2nd time I used it, we were pregnant in December 2009. We were so excited to see that little word on the stick: “pregnant”. At 11 weeks into the pregnancy, I began to have some spotting and went to my doctor. I was sent for blood tests on 3 days and they determined that I was losing the baby. I decided to have a D&C because I didn’t think I could emotionally handle miscarrying naturally. After the D&C we found out our little one only grew to about 7-8 weeks. The doctor just told us to keep trying and that miscarriages happened more often than we thought. [Read more...]

July 16, 2012, 40 weeks old

Park City, Utah

The third week of November 2011, I found out I was pregnant with my fourth child. I was over the moon excited, it had been nine years since I had my last baby. My due date was July 29, 2012, but I suspected I was a couple of weeks further along than that. I had a ton of morning sickness, which was very normal for me. Everything went well as the months went on, always a good strong heartbeat, great ultrasounds. I was going to have a healthy baby girl. Later in the pregnancy I found out had gestational diabetes. I was able to keep it under control with diet and close monitoring of my blood sugar levels. I had NST’s every Tuesday and Friday, she always moved around like crazy and her heart rate was always really good. [Read more...]

Briefly – We went to hospital about ten pm on Wednesday 11th July after getting worried about reduced movements and lack of weeing. Tried to listen to heartbeat but nothing. Did scan and no hb. Between Tuesday (when had mw appt and heard hb) and and Wednesday our little girl died. She was 26 weeks that Thursday. [Read more...]

Mom to Drake

Born and died November 18, 2011

We had given up; all the tests at the fertility clinic showed the only thing preventing us from getting pregnant was my PCOS and that I’d have to lose some weight and keep track of ovulation and it would happen. That was in January 2011; by summer we had decided that we would focus on us, and if a baby was in our cards then it would happen. It was too stressful to go 5 times a week, sometimes an hour away, to have the ultrasounds for ovulation, and expensive! June passed and we had great fun going to the beach, July passed and we drank beers at the local amusement park and rode roller coasters ‘til they closed, August passed and we were looking forward to getting ready for our favorite holiday- Halloween. I missed a period but that was nothing unusual because of my PCOS, so I didn’t think anything of it, I had no morning sickness and I was actually losing weight. September is here and fall is starting to creep in, another month with no period and I felt fine but I decided to test one day just for the heck of it- I peed on the stick and went about my housecleaning and came back 5 minutes later…POSITIVE! Mom to Armony Lane

Lost December 6, 2010

San Antonio, Texas

Most believe every pregnancy ends in a baby, but for me that was not the case. I was 17, a senior in high school, and three months before my 18th birthday when I made the decision to have unprotected sex with a co-worker. His name is Dustin, and was everything I wanted in a guy, plus was from my home state of Texas (at the time I was residing in Montana with my step-dad and mom). [Read more...]

Mom to Jeremiah D’Andre

Born May 12, 2012 and died May 15, 2012

Miami, Florida

I don’t even know how to start my story…it just brings tears to my eyes, but in a good way. I think it is good to tell my story.

My name is Andrea. This was my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy was great with no complications at all, with a healthy little boy who is turning 7 years old. When I found out I was pregnant with my second, it was around November 2012. I was excited and surprised that I was pregnant. It wasn’t planned, but I had already fallen in love with the little person growing inside of me. Something told me that it was going to be a boy, and before I even knew that I was pregnant I already had his name planned out (since2010). I chose from the Bible Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations,” and I chose Jeremiah. Mom to Noelle Kathryn

Born still March 1, 2012

Rock Island, Illinois

I gave birth to my second child, our beautiful daughter, on March 1, 2012. She was already in Heaven with our Savior.

I found out I was pregnant in August of 2011. We had been waiting to try for our second child because my husband had gotten a new job at the end of 2010 and we were without insurance for 7 months. As soon as that probation period was up, we started trying to conceive, and we were elated when it happened so quickly. As with my first pregnancy, I had quite a bit of “morning” sickness (that came at all hours of the day and night) and honestly felt reassured by it. I had many people tell me that sickness is a sign that things are going well. Though I had lost some weight and was having a hard time keeping food down, the baby was growing right on track. Miscarried February 16, 2012

Hickory, North Carolina

My husband and I got married September 3, 2010 and began trying to conceive pretty much right away. I had very irregular cycles already and I decided to see my doctor about having some tests done. I was diagnosed with PCOS in May of 2011. After discovering I am resistant to oral fertility medications and one failed round of intra-uterine insemination, we decided to take a break from fertility treatments. I was not expecting to be able to become pregnant on my own in the mean time. [Read more...]
