Mom to  Zoey Skye

Stillborn January 9, 2012

Sulphur, Louisiana

My husband and I got married May 15, 2010. We started trying to get pregnant the end of January of 2011, and didn’t get pregnant until May of 2011. During that time of trying I would get upset every time I got another negative test. So the morning of June 6 when I finally got a positive test, I was so excited I started crying and shaking and didn’t know what to do with myself. I went and woke my husband up and told him the news and showed him the test. He was just as excited as I was. I made our first doc apt and it was for the beginning of July. At the apt we found out we were due January 29, 2012 and they gave me a paper to go do blood work. Well we ended up finding out that I had Thrombocytopenia which is low blood platelets. Blood platelets are what cause your blood to clot, so an extremely low count can cause spontaneous bleeding out. A normal count is 150,000 or higher. Mine were at 88,000. So my doctor put me on a 6 day pack of steroids (prednisone) to see if they would up my platelets and if they did, then I would get on them again at the end of the pregnancy right before delivery because you can’t get an epidural if your platelets are too low. I had told my doctor that I planned on trying to not get an epidural but she insisted that I would want one. [Read more...]

Mom to Baby Kester

Born and Passed on February 17, 2012

Northeast Ohio

It all started with multiple positive pregnancy tests three days before Christmas. I was beyond thrilled and I instantly started crying at the sight of those two pink lines. Naturally I thought of a cute way to tell my fiancé, so I wrapped the test up and waited until he came home. He was so excited and he was speechless. We had been trying for 15 months and were starting to get disappointed, but we got our Christmas miracle. I was told when I was in my early teen years that it could be hard for me to conceive due to being abused as a child, so I was ecstatic. [Read more...]

Mom to John Thomas Chatham III

Born on March 23, 2009

Became an angel on April 4, 2009

Marietta, Georgia

When I was pregnant, I began to acquire too much fluid in the womb. They were not able to locate all of his heart parts on ultrasound which concerned them that he might have a heart defect. My water ruptured prior to 34 weeks but fully broke at 34 weeks. When he was born he was gray and not breathing due to the CHARGE-associated nasal problem. His heart also had a valve that was twisted. We were expecting at least two surgeries. He had a small penis and malformed ear as well. These are all symptoms that are grouped under CHARGE Syndrome. We waited for over a week for a bed at the local children’s specialized hospital and were very hopeful when he got moved. [Read more...]

At the time, we had 2 beautiful and healthy kids, Jake who was 6 and Katelyn who was 4, and we couldn’t wait to share this experience with them. [Read more...]

Mom to Maximus Wright Bloom

Born March 1, 2011 and died March 12, 2011

San Francisco, California

My second pregnancy was uneventful. I did not have high blood pressure like I did with my first pregnancy. I did not have to be hospitalized like I did with my first pregnancy (for a placenta tear). The pregnancy, while tiring, since I was now running around after a toddler, was as perfect as can be. All the tests that were done came back normal. [Read more...]

My husband and I decided to start trying for a family in December 2009. We tried for 6 months to conceive our first. I temped, charted, drank tea and Pom juice, the works. It felt like it took forever! And the feeling of seeing those two pink lines for the very first time is something I will never forget. No matter how many times those lines show up again it will also never be the same as that first time. [Read more...]

Passed away on September 21, 2010

Salem, Arkansas

My pregnancy was a surprise. I was on birth control. Between the excitement and wonder was fear. Would our baby be okay since I was on medication? I had once envisioned I would never have children. I had lost my period for almost a year in my teens, was a smoker, a sober alcoholic (five years dry), and drank tons of caffeine. We were not married, which is usually not the ideal situation. We soon completely forgot about our fears and just looked forward to an exciting and promising future. I quit the smoking and all but a bit of caffeine. [Read more...]

Jacob’s Story

Life has been really tough on me and my fiancé the past four years. In February of 2009, we found out that we were indeed expecting a little boy. We were ecstatic! We picked out a name, Jacob Michael Jones (Michael was his father’s first name)

In March, I started bleeding on the 7th, and by the next morning I woke up to blood all over the bed, and down my legs. We made it to the hospital around noon finally (it was snowing pretty hard) and they rushed me to the ER, where they did a vaginal exam and said that my cervix was dilating and they could see the membranes pushing through. Neither of us really knew what to think, it was all so surreal, and I couldn’t think about anything else besides little Jacob suffering inside me. They took me to ultrasound and again confirmed that it was a little boy and we were 19 weeks and 2 days. [Read more...]

My husband and I had been trying for six months to get pregnant. I couldn’t believe it when I (finally) got a positive pregnancy test! I took eight tests to make sure. We were so excited! We’d been together nine years, married for one year, and were ready to start our family. We kept the news to ourselves for two weeks told our immediate family about the pregnancy at six weeks. We wanted to wait until the start of the second trimester to tell everyone else. [Read more...]

It all started with a positive pregnancy test as most pregnancies do. I was excited! We weren’t trying, but what are you going to do? I always wanted to be a mom and even though I was only 19 at the time I knew I could do it. My boyfriend was 25 at the time. It was our first child together. Everything about my pregnancy was normal. I got very lucky I didn’t have any morning sickness or any of the bad pregnancy symptoms. [Read more...]

My name is Sarah. On December 2nd, 2006 I was feeling… fat. I had just broken up with my boyfriend and wasn’t feeling that great anyway. We had disagreed a lot about all kinds of issues and over Christmas decided that being together just wasn’t in the cards. Miscarriage at 8 weeks on January 31, 2012

Hutchinson, Kansas

In May of 2008, after my husband and I both finished graduate school, we decided that we would start trying to add to our family. After a year we were referred to an RE to see why I still wasn’t pregnant.  It was then that I was diagnosed with PCOS.  After surgery, using a variety of meds (clomid, femara, ovidrel) and an IUI, I finally had a positive pregnancy test in November 2010.  We were overjoyed.  Thrilled beyond belief. And so, so thankful. [Read more...]
