Mom to Baby Anthony

August 25th, 2011

Taunton, Massachusetts

In July, I started suspecting I was pregnant. I suspected because my body felt… different.  I was unsure, since my periods are so erratic. I don’t get my periods every month, or around the same time, so I figured it would start up at any time.  Since June, I had some spotting here and there. Occasionally, I would see some spotting, and think maybe I was getting my period finally.  It never came. [Read more…]

At the end of the summer of 2009 I had gone to my OB/GYN for a check up and to discuss why I didn’t have a regular cycle. My doctor diagnosed me with PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Disease) she told me my chances of ever getting pregnant without fertility treatments was slim to none. [Read more…]

June 21st, 2006 –  November 13th, 2006

Maple Shade, New Jersey

I had a perfectly normal, healthy pregnancy.

Dylan came into this world on June 21 2006. He was 2wks early and thankfully so, because I was told had he gone to term he would have been stillborn due to a knot in his cord. We were so grateful and so happy to be holding our second beautiful little boy. [Read more…]

I was given a due date at my first ultrasound: May 14th.  My next ultrasound revealed another dream come true: I was having a little girl. [Read more…]

I guess it all starts at age 2 for me. That is how old I was when my father left, and that is the start of molding me into the man I have become today. As I look back on it not having a father has made me into the father that I am today. [Read more…]

Mom to Mary Elizabeth

March 30th, 2011

Manhattan, Kansas

We first found out something was wrong at our 20 week anatomy scan. The sonographer suddenly got very quiet, but I was so busy looking at my beautiful girl that I didn’t really notice. When she asked if we had an appointment with our OB that day, I knew there was a problem. Mary had a few abnormalities and she wasn’t swallowing the way a baby at that stage of gestation should. My husband and I had been married for 3 years, and had been trying for 2 years without success. Once our fertility tests were completed and medications had been started, we got pregnant on our third round of Clomid. To our biggest surprise, we found out that we were pregnant with twins! At our 19 week appointment, we found out we were having a boy and a girl. Both were healthy and the pregnancy couldn’t have been any better (not an ounce of sickness.) [Read more…]

Mom to “Bo”

October 4th, 2011

We found out on August 31st via a blood test that we were pregnant. We went back to the doctor on September 12 for the first official sonogram and they were going to try and hear the heartbeat.  The doctor heard the heartbeat, all my husband and I heard was white noise, but we could see the little peaks on the monitor when they measured it.  We did see the heart flickering and nothing could make us happier. We left that appointment knowing there was a flicker and that we were 6 weeks along.  The date we were looking forward to the most was May 8, 2012, our little one’s due date.  I was feeling pregnant: nauseous, tired, smelling everything, and overjoyed to be pregnant.  I had scheduled an appointment with my OB for October 7, but got a call on September 30th that they needed to move it up due to scheduling conflicts…no big deal, I just adjusted my work schedule and was now going in to hear the heartbeat and see a picture of our growing baby. Mom to Brody Michael

Born Sleeping on August 21st, 2011

Ford City, Pennsylvania

Brody’s Story

Brody Michael Lukehart was a well planned baby. His father and I had some trouble trying to conceive but then magically two months after we got married, our miracle came. I had stopped wanting to take pregnancy tests because time after time, I was just let down. I could hardly believe it. Instantly, I turned into a mother. I became the healthiest I have ever been. I thought twice about everything I ate, drank, and did. I knew I wanted to stay at home so my life drastically changed. I researched everything I could about breastfeeding and became very proud of the fact that I could nourish my child with God given nutrients. I had his room planned out in my head. Frogs would be the theme. I had consumed myself with planning for Brody’s arrival all while having a strong intuition that I would never actually bring him home. I don’t know if it was a mother’s intuition, my own personal feelings of pessimism, or just God’s way of preparing me for the worst pain I would ever feel in my entire life. [Read more…]

Early Twin Miscarriage at 11 weeks

January 2nd, 2011

and “Spock” – Miscarried at 14 weeks

August 4th, 2011

Virginia Beach, Virginia

My story begins in March 2010 when my husband and I started trying to conceive. We are in our twenties and like any young, military couple, we wanted to start our family a little earlier than most. A long seven months later, we discovered we were pregnant! At just 5 weeks, we made multiple ER visits due to bleeding and spotting and discovered there was not just one but TWO gestational sacs. Shocked and in disbelief, my husband and I started telling all our family and friends. Although my hormones were still increasing, it was still too early to see any heartbeats. [Read more…]

Mom to James Michael Watson

November 30th, 2007

Ozark, Alabama

I found out I was pregnant on 20 November 2007.  I was 16.  I took 3 different tests to make sure I really was. The following day I went to school, and told my best friend.  She, too, had just found out she was expecting! We went to the doctor together, and I got a test done, it was positive! I didn’t really know what to do or say at that moment, I just knew my mother wouldn’t be too happy about it. [Read more…]

Mother of Gavin Michael

August 16th, 2011 – August 18th, 2011

Kernersville, North Carolina

His name is Gavin Michael and he was beautiful.  He had his mom’s hands, skin tone and hair color and his dad’s everything else.  He came into this world weighing 1 pound 7.34 ounces, without a doubt, the tiniest baby we had ever seen, but also the most perfect.  He had a iron will and the heart of lion.  He was pure and gentle.  As we joyfully welcomed our tiny miracle, we soon also welcomed the most unwanted visitor, death.  We would never be able to hold our son, not until he was taking his last breaths.  We would never be able to dress him, not until he was being dressed for his funeral.  We couldn’t cradle him, or kiss his beautifully crafted face until he was in the quiet throws of death.  Never would be able to comfort his cries, hear his laughter, feed him or even change a dirty diaper.  He would never come home, not until he was brought inside a tiny, palm sized urn and placed ever so delicately into a music box, instead of his crib.     [Read more…]

Baby L’s Story

My husband and I had decided to go off of the pill and start trying for a baby. My best friend had gotten pregnant so quickly and easily that I just assumed it would happen that way for me as well. I mean, all you have to do is have sex right? We tried for about 6 months before we started to think maybe we should start tracking things and counting days…well, before we knew it, we were pregnant. I was scared and nervous and excited all at the same time. I was 29 at that time and had always thought I’d be a mom before 30…finally it was happening! [Read more…]

Mom to Eleora Lynn Exposito

September 30th, 2010

Canton, Ohio

I think the easiest way to tell my story is to just start from the beginning. My son, Mazio , had just turned one in June of 2010. My husband, Ben , and I had been anxiously awaiting the one year mark to start trying to conceive again. Since I had a csection with my son at 29 weeks due to preeclampsia we were told to wait one full year before trying. I was so excited and anxious to be pregnant again. I was also a bit scared as well since the chance of another preeclamptic pregnancy was now higher. We had only tried for a month when I by chance had a gut feeling to take a test. To my excitement and surprise it was positive right away. I was so thrilled that I couldn’t wait for Ben to get home from work to tell him so I took a picture of the test with my phone and sent it to him with the text “ Guess what?” He was excited and came home smiling. Loss #2 at 5 weeks –  September 2008

Loss #3 at 4 weeks – July 2011

Loss #4 at almost 4 weeks – September 2011

Loss #1: (First Trimester Loss)

In July 2008 I found out we were pregnant with our 2nd child. It was a surprise but we were excited nonetheless. That excitement quickly ended after only a couple weeks when I started bleeding. I called my husband who was at work..I was crying so hard I’m surprised even understood me. I called my doctor and explained that I was bleeding and worried. She told me if it was brown or light pinkish blood it was most likely old blood and I was fine. However, if it is red blood that means it is fresh and could mean a miscarriage. Mine was bright red. I freaked out and we headed straight for the ER. [Read more…]
